The Dock Foreman coordinates the loading and unloading activities on the dock while overseeing the cargo handling staff.

The Dock Foreman ensures that customers are served with the highest level of quality possible and ensures compliance with laws, values, policies, procedures and general safety conditions.

More specifically, the Dock Foreman will :

  • Solve the most difficult cases or files, offer solutions and implement them;
  • Plan staffing requirements (including agency staff), vacations and holidays;
  • Participate in various selection processes, investigations and apply disciplinary measures in collaboration with the Human Resources Department;
  • Participate in implementing various loading and unloading procedures in accordance with appropriate transportation documents and ensure they are complied with;
  • Assess staff members’ performance;
  • May be required to perform cargo handling work;
  • Train and coach department staff members;
  • Perform all other related duties.
  • Requirements :

  • 3 to 5 years’ transportation experience;
  • Staff supervision experience;
  • Ability to operate a forklift and an electric pallet truck;
  • Geographic knowledge of the area covered by the terminal;
  • General computer knowledge;Good communicator : oral and written;
  • Leadership abilities;
  • Good priority management skills;
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions;
  • Attention to customer service;
  • Fluency in written and spoken French and English;
  • Knowledge of TruckMate software (asset).
