Position Summary Reporting to the Clinical Lead (AL) and / or designate performs general cleaning duties in the facility including : the cleaning of tenant suites, bathrooms, staff rooms, offices, lounges, dining rooms, corridors, and other areas as designated.

  • Responds to tenant and building emergencies as required. Responsibilities Include but not limited to;
  • 1.Carries out all aspects of routine and rotation cleaning throughout the building and suites which includes the following, but not limited to : dusting, vacuuming and sweeping;
  • cleaning appliances; washing floors, walls, windows and doors; changing light bulbs; changing and making beds; removing curtains / window coverings for cleaning and re-

    hanging; garbage removal; terminal cleaning of rooms / suites

  • 2.Cares for equipment, supplies and work areas through the following : cleans and keeps equipment clean and safely stored;
  • reports defective / damaged equipment and furnishings; keeps work area in an orderly, safe and clean condition; keeps inventory in order on individual carts;
  • replenishes supplies throughout the building; understands the use and application of cleaning chemicals.

    3.Ensures that furniture is arranged to provide a safe and efficient environment.

    4.Reports significant changes or uncommon tenant behaviors or concerns to nursing staff.

    5.Participates in facility committees and quality improvement initiatives.

    6.Other related duties as required.

    Qualifications 1.Grade 10 or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    2.Successful completion of WHMIS education and understanding of safe use of chemicals.

    3.Free of allergies or conditions which may be aggravated by the work environment

    4.Must have high standard of personal hygiene and cleanliness.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

    1.Ability to develop and maintain harmonious relationship with all levels of personnel and tenants.

    2.Ability to work independently and follow instructions with minimal supervision.

    3.Ability to communicate well in written and oral English

    4.Ability to demonstrate tact diplomacy, empathy and patience when working with staff and tenants.

    5.Good physical and emotional health : capabilities compatible with walking, stooping, bending, lifting heavy objects and pushing heavy carts.
