As a Security Consultant you will manage the various systems and technologies that keeps the TELUS network secure from persistent and ever-
increasing cybersecurity threats and attacks. Your contribution will protect TELUS by ensuring that the critical telecommunication services we provide will continue to be highly available to our employees and customers.
Working alongside a team of cybersecurity professionals you will :
Manage security solutions provided by firewalls, VPN, IPS, Email relays, Web proxies, AAA platforms
Administer various vendor technologies, such as Juniper, Cisco, and Palo Alto
Provide project support specific to network security for new service and technology introductions
Reduce service-impacting outages / degradations and restoring service to premium levels in a timely fashion
Work together to provide quality customer service by pursuing opportunities to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
Participate in the rotational after-hours on-call support
You’re the missing piece of the puzzle
With 4+ years of IT experience including IT security experience
Confident in your experience in IT systems, security and network technologies and processes such as : Firewalls, IDS / IPS, anti-
virus Security incident handling IP Network technology, protocols, routing Windows / Unix system administration skills Logging controls and log analysis
Known for your sound decision making and result-driven mindset with the ability to take initiative and ownership of complex issues, concepts, and tasks through to resolution
Acknowledged for your ability communicate complex technical matters in easy-to-understand ways
Admired for your positive team spirit and ability to work cohesively in a fast-pace deadline-driven environment
Respected for your integrity in dealing with information and issues of a confidential or sensitive nature
With a university degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar disciplines
Availability for rotational after-hours on-call support
Experience with firewalls and various network security services including planning, designing and implementing secure Internet solutions
Knowledge of Palo Alto and Juniper SRX firewall configurations and troubleshooting methodologies
Technical or professional certifications such as SANS GIAC, CISSP or CCNA / CCNP
Scripting / programming skills
