Work schedule : Rotation based on 3 weeks of work, 4 days per week and one of every three weekends. On call 2 evenings / nights per week.
The Logistics Supervisor plans all transportation activities and assigns staff and rolling stock to serve customers according to their agreements.
Monitors rules governing the milk transportation agreement, the collective agreement, occupational health and safety, and Agropur’s transportation and road safety policies.
He / she also manages the team of drivers and performs compliance audits. More specifically, the incumbent will :
Plan and adjust work schedules according to orders entered and important parameters : volume, product requirements, distances, production / delivery time, etc.
Assign drivers for inter-plant transportation and farm pick-ups, propose the best routes, taking into account restrictions such as thaw periods, and regularly verify route efficiency
Ensure that drivers receive required training and that they are aware of the transportation policies and procedures
Ensure adherence to the fleet maintenance schedule
Compile and analyze data collected to establish billing and pay (activity reports, inter-plant slips, pick-up reports) and collaborate with the Administration department
Ensure that the team respects the laws governing all aspects of transportation, as well as the milk transportation agreement;
conduct investigations and perform analyses when necessary
Answer questions related to road safety, legal loads, work procedures, customer requirements, discipline, etc.
Participate in and / or sit on the OHS Committee and be responsible for promoting sound OHS values throughout the Operations Milk Transportation division
Maintain harmonious working relationships with employees and the union and participate in determining disciplinary measures to be applied in case of non-compliance
Participate in or lead various improvement projects and in collective agreement renewals (negotiations)
Plan and support labour planning activities
College or Bachelor’s degree;
Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the transportation sector, in a similar position, ideally governed by a collective labour agreement
Training in transportation regulations (Bill 430)
Class 1 driver’s licence would be ideal
Experience in managing a unionized team of employees
Hold the following certifications : expert milk collector (tester), work at heights, ergonomics, first aid (an asset)
Basic mechanical knowledge
Knowledge of the dairy production sector would be ideal
Sound knowledge, skills and experience using common computer systems and those specific to dispatching
Able to act without supervision; autonomous and decisive
Able to quickly adapt to multiple schedule changes
