The Procurement Strategy & Innovation (PSI) Team is dedicated to driving strategy and operations related to the Procurement organisation.

We design and employ sustainable best practices and enhancements to the Procurement toolkit, including those related to technology, process, risk and cost, to ensure that our team members can focus on helping our stakeholders make informed and effective spend decisions.

Within the Procurement function, we have started a transformational journey. We are implementing an innovative delivery model to ensure that we are connecting those who spend money on behalf of TELUS through connecting them to the proper resources, strategic vendors, and delivery model.

As a leader in the PSI team, you will be focused on driving the Procurement transformation in driving results, with particular focus on developing self-

serve capability and tools for our stakeholders, and ensuring that we have a robust technology platform that not only supports fundamental procurement activities, but also embedding artificial intelligence, and robotic process automation where appropriate.

We are looking for a highly-motivated, enthusiastic self-starter to join the team as a Senior Program Manager. With your experience in project leadership, experience in strategic Procurement and / or IT, as well as your exemplary skills in designing and implementing robust business cases, financial analysis, change leadership, and project management, you will work with and lead cross-

functional project team members both within and outside of the Procurement function in the development and implementation of products and services, systems, processes, approach to market, and contribute to shaping the strategic direction of our future organization.

Here’s how

  • Lead large, complex procurement projects / programs of projects managed by other project managers and stakeholders
  • Build and gain approval for complex business cases, including financial analysis, funding approval, and third party engagement
  • Seek innovative new technologies and potential initiatives that will promote best practices and drive incremental opportunities, and present their potential for TELUS to senior stakeholders
  • Partner with senior level executives to develop Procurement strategies and articulate the impact to business economics and our customers that linked to ROI
  • Build trusted relationships with key decision makers, influencers and business leaders within target verticals and territories
  • Ensure project issue and risk management plans are in place, including change control and escalation processes
  • Implement PMO Framework standards and procedures for managing projects including reporting and presentations
  • Design, manage and maintain robust project plans ensuring all deliverables are met or exceeded
  • Lead and actively participate in operational governance (monthly and quarterly)
  • Liaise between various TELUS business units and external service providers to ensure successful project and program delivery
  • Continuously investigate new technologies, systems and potential initiatives that will promote Procurement best practices at TELUS in the future
  • Lead and facilitate large group meeting / workshops as required
  • Qualifications

    You’re the missing piece of the puzzle

  • 7+ years of progressively complex project / program management experience
  • Exceptional program and change leadership skills
  • Ability to translate an ambiguous business problem into a clear concise business case, and structured project / program
  • Superior financial, analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of procurement, purchasing and / or strategic sourcing processes
  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to collaborate with and influence senior executives as business partners
  • University Degree preferably in Engineering, Business, Commerce, Supply Chain Management, or related field
  • Competency with Microsoft Office suite of tools; contract management and competitive bidding tools - specifically ARIBA, SAP Contract Life Cycle Management (CLM), and e-sourcing tools
  • Proven knowledge and understanding of telecom preferred
  • MBA a strong asset
  • Professional designation in Project Management (PMI, PMP)
  • Professional designation in Supply Chain Management or equivalent (PMAC / SCMP / CSCP / CIPS) considered an asset
  • Website design and development, in particular with Wordpress, considered an asset
