We are currently seeking a dynamic experienced Software Product Owner to join our Vancouver IT team.

The GenomeDx Technology Team is a passionate group of scientists, software engineers and IT professionals striving to build new systems and improve on existing ones that make the genomic data that we produce in our clinical lab actionable to physicians and their patients with cancer.

The Software Product Owner plays a key role by interfacing with all groups within the company including laboratory, clinical, customer support and business users in order to understand business processes and outline the user stories and requirements that the development teams need.

You are a listener and a translator.

You will help design, document, configure and customize the systems we use to fit these requirements. To that end, your expertise in understanding the processes and procedures behind stakeholder requirements ensures that the development team can efficiently produce reliable and state-

of-the-art business and laboratory information systems. You will get a great mix of time working independently and with other members of the Technology team to provide support, analyze and resolve issues to improve laboratory and business processes.

What you are great at doing :

  • Gathering functional and non-functional requirements for GenomeDx software projects by working closely with the respective stakeholders and users.
  • Helping to maintain and prioritize the development tasks in the backlog.
  • Based on input from the stakeholders and users, prioritizing user requirements by business value, impact and level of effort.
  • Supporting the translation of the requirements into design specifications by clarifying ambiguities with the users.
  • Hosting and leading requirements analysis sessions with stakeholders, users and / or Engineering team members.
  • Aligning requirements and business cases with Software Engineering, Software QA and stakeholder timelines, expectations, and priorities.
  • Ensuring that software validation testing adequately covers the needs of the users.
  • Keeping functional and non-functional requirements and priorities up-to-date with changing business needs.
  • Maintaining appropriate levels of documentation and project artifacts.
  • Gaining domain knowledge in areas of the company that intersect with software projects.
  • Adhering to the established Software Development Life Cycle and regulatory frameworks that govern our software development activities in a clinical laboratory.
  • What you need to be successful :

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent education and experience combination
  • 5+ years of experience working as a software product owner or business analyst preferably in a laboratory, clinical or health-care environment
  • What you will bring to the team :

  • Experience in an Agile development environment
  • Experience in Cloud and SaaS development, ideally in the Healthcare industry
  • Proven ability to foster relationships with stakeholders at all levels in the organization
  • Highly organized and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills within local and distributed teams
