This position is based in Toronto. The Business Development Representative reports to the Senior Manager, Internal Sales : National Bank Investments.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Internal Sales you will work in unison with the Business Development Manager (wholesaler) to provide phone support to National Bank advisors, financial planners and branch managers.

You will be an essential partner by providing sales support, research and training to ensure their understanding of National Bank Investment’s products and tools.

You will implement sales strategies to increase sales volume and market share of the Bank for the distribution of NBI Private Wealth Management, NBI Portfolios, market linked GIC’s and NBI standalone funds.

You will track results and recognize the efforts of your different customers for their sales results.

In addition, you will identify business opportunities that may emerge in the market and make recommendations as to actions to be taken on improving existing products and developing new products.

You will anticipate the needs of the distribution channel which will translate into sales strategies and development plans and participate in the development and dissemination of marketing ideas, depending on markets and target audiences.

You should be on the lookout for new products and services from competitors and highlight the added value of products and services of the Bank compared to the competition.

Also, you will make recommendations and suggest changes in work processes to improve service to customers and stakeholders and to ensure compliance with policies, standards and procedures.


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or related field in industry and 3-5 years experience or completed Master's degree in a related industry, and two years of relevant experience
  • Completed Investment Funds of Canada (IFIC) Course or Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or able to obtain within six months
  • Excellent knowledge of financial markets
  • Knowledge of mutual funds of the Bank and those of the competition
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of GBFonds and / or Morningstar an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to implement and create business development strategies
  • English (spoken and written)
