Job Responsibilities
Conduct periodic reviews of the Plant's HSE and NERC programs and update as necessary to meet applicable regulations and / or corporate directives.
Manage the Environmental, Health and Safety, and NERC compliance program to ensure compliance with applicable NERC, Federal, Provincial, and local safety, and environmental regulations.
In coordination with the Operation and Maintenance Managers oversee the required Regulatory Training Program scheduling and tracking to ensure all training requirements are completed and current.
Communicate with regulatory agencies as necessary to address regulatory reporting, deviations, and notices of non-compliance and be compliant regulatory reporting requirements.
Coordinate and / or perform required environmental reporting and testing activities and ensure that required environmental programs and permits are properly implemented and that the Plant maintains full compliance with all permits.
Support and coordinate injury and near-miss investigations and generate related reports focusing on the root cause and ensuring that corrective measures are identified and implemented.
Interface with EEG's management team to support the development and implementation of the Plant annual regulatory compliance plans, goals, and strategies for improving safety environmental and NERC performance.
Continually promote Safety and Environmental and NERC Compliance and Performance which affect the site. Support the site Joint Health and Safety Committee as required.
Review, Analyse and Evaluate Station Chemistry and Environmental Data. Provide oversight and support to station environmental compliance programs.
Support the sampling, organization, of site requirements and work with Outside Laboratories to get analyses completed. Generate reports and recommendations from these analyses.
Operate testing equipment and conduct scheduled Chemistry, Environmental and Performance Testing as needed. Be able to generate reports and recommendations from this Testing.
Maintain the facility Chemistry Laboratory QA / QC Program and Chemical Hygiene Plan. Maintain professional affiliations with safety and environmental organizations and other HSE professionals to keep current with new environmental and safety regulations and good management practices.
Support and coordinate NERC regulatory compliance through identification of applicable standards and required maintenance and operational compliance actions on an annual basis.
Review, identify and adjust programs and procedures to ensure compliance with Regulatory changes on and annual basis. Improve HSE and NERC skills and knowledge through continuing education and training.

Must be a self-starter with a high degree of initiative and ability to work both independently and within a team.
Experience
A minimum of five years relevant experience is desired for this position, preferably in Ontario, Canada.
Education Requirements
Strong communication skills and a willingness to have a collaborative approach are required. A demonstrated track record in implementing corporate regulatory policies and procedures and / or developing and implementing site-level compliance procedures.
