Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Data Analytics, the Solutions Architect is the technical and operational lead for a suite of Business Intelligence (BI) and data management services with the Data Analytics Agile team structure of Health Informatics.

This role ensures the solutions delivered not only meet business and technical needs but also adhere to defined standards and best practices.

The Solutions Architect collaborates with key stakeholders and the Health Informatics management team to identify needs and opportunities for improved BI solutions, and with team members by providing technical and architectural guidance to projects and tasks.

Additionally, the Solutions Architect participates in forums such as project management reviews and planning sessions, and is involved in the identification, assessment, and ongoing management of relationships and administration of tools.

Skills

Solid programming skills in T-SQL, C#, Visual Basic, Java, etc.

Demonstrated strength and skills in using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Microsoft Visual Studio Advanced using data warehouse development, integration, analysis and reporting tools.

Advanced knowledge of and skills using relational database systems such as Microsoft SQL Server.

Advanced understanding of the Software Development Life cycle.

Strong understanding of and background in data architecture, data quality, data mapping, data structures, and database and business intelligence concepts.

Proven ability to interpret data files and record layouts to map fields between multiple systems and database tables.

Proven ability to prepare, maintain and publish ETL documentation, including source-to-target mappings and business-driven transformation rules.

Demonstrated ability to comprehend and prioritize user and business requirements, and to conceptualize information processing solutions in response to them, including analyzing, scoping and defining the work effort required to correct program deficiencies and problems.

Solid understanding of project management and portfolio management frameworks and processes with a proven ability to plan and execute complex projects with stringent budgets and timelines.

Strong quantitative skills with a demonstrated ability to analyze operational problems and recommend innovative solutions.

Strong interpersonal skills including strengths in working in a team environment with a client / user orientation.

Demonstrated technical leader with skills in teaching, coaching and mentoring others.

Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas and processes in simple terminology to internal and external stakeholders, including all levels of management.

Demonstrated attention to detail and maintenance of high quality standards.

Demonstrated ability to work independently, meeting deadlines under pressure, with minimal supervision and frequent interruptions.

Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Education

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field plus a minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years’ recent work experience in Business Intelligence development using Microsoft Business Intelligence stack (e.

g. MS SQL Server, SSAS, SSIS, SSRS and PowerBI) Tableau and Software Development including a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a solutions architect in healthcare related projects.

A Master’s degree in Health Information Science, Business Administration or related field would be an asset.
