The Network Management Center (NMC) is the focal point for network faults, monitoring alarms, troubleshooting issues, reporting on failures, managing vendors' response time to faults, calling out technicians, restoring network elements, and maintenance.

The NOC Specialist is responsible for the monitoring of the TELUS Mobility network, coast to coast on a 24x7x365 basis. The NOC Surveillance Specialist is responsible for the core telecommunications network : switches, cell sites -3,4,5G for RAN and Core, trunks etc.

and all the peripherals and data elements : SMS, voice mail, STPs, 1X etc., and their associated services. Quick reaction to network issues, attention to all details and the ability to take troubleshooting to a higher level are qualities that this position demands.

Responsibilities :

Monitor and action alarms as they are presented into the alarm viewer or as advised via internal clients, following the documented guidelines

Notification of outages / restorations to internal clients and various partners as defined by various service level agreements

Troubleshooting of fault events as they are presented and engaging the correct groups to resolve the fault in a timely manner if they can’t be resolved by NOC

Prime for vendor escalations and reporting on vendor performance as it pertains to fault

Requirements :

Bilingual English & French Mandatory

Ability to work in a shift rotating environment to support NMC Operations

Strong decisions making and problem-solving skills

Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Must be able to work well in a cross-functional team environment

High proficiency in using Microsoft (MS) desktop applications with emphasis on Word,

Excel & Access

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong wireless telecommunications knowledge

Completion of a technical post-secondary education

5 years of telecommunications or related experience


Familiar with Nortel, Nokia, Samsung, Huawei, Motorola, Lucent, Cisco, Sun, Sentinel, voicemail systems, Radio Access Network (RAN), Internet Protocol (IP) Core, Voice over LTE (VoLTE), Internet of Things (IoT), network functions virtualization (NFV), software-defined networking (SDN), Cloud, 5G Radio and Core

Working knowledge of XAMP

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification, CCNP. Juniper red hat, Agile or Scrum designations. ITIL V3-V4
