Position Summary

Come and join an amazing team of Perioperative and Medical Device Reprocessing (MDR) professionals! The Summerland Health Centre in the Southern Okanagan region of BC is looking for casual MDR technicians.

As the Medical Device Reprocessing Technician / Perioperative Aide, you will assist the surgical team with the preparation of the Operating Room (OR) theaters and the positioning and preparation of the surgical patients and related supplies / equipment.

You will also transport patients, specimens, equipment and supplies within the perioperative area. The attendant will be knowledgeable in the use, care and location of perioperative equipment and supplies by restocking supplies in theatres and storage areas.

  • It is expected that you provide input to the surgical team regarding patient observations and interactions. This position also performs a series of detailed technical duties related to the decontamination, sterilization, reassembly, function testing and distribution of medical and / or surgical supplies and instruments for various areas of the hospital;
  • and performs related clerical duties and record keeping.

    This is a Casual opportunity. Casual means there are no guaranteed hours and work requirements may vary from 0 - 37.5 hours per week.

  • Grade 12
  • Successful completion of a recognized Sterile Supply Processing course
  • One year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
