Job Overview

The Merchandising Analyst is responsible in supporting the development and communication of collaborative merchandising plans in partnership with key functional groups.

The position also assists in performing analytics / insights to support the strategic and tactical performance of merchandising and pricing management initiatives.

The incumbent liaises with Merchandising, Marketing and Store Operations to ensure the successful execution of merchandising, pricing and planogramming initiatives.

This includes all areas of store including grocery and fresh departments as well as services instore and online.

Accountabilities :

Merchandising & Planning :

  • Assist in the development of collaborative merchandising and business plans with the Merchandising team and other Key Stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development and communication of the Meal Plan.
  • Co-ordinate promotional plans across departments. Increase the engagement of cross-departmental merchandising by providing examples of successes ultimately leading to a holistic approach to merchandising.
  • Assist in the maintenance and updates of Merchandising Standards to improve current documentations.
  • Assist in the Show, Sell Celebration Events
  • Provide overview of market activities
  • Pricing and Retail Management :

  • Assist with Price monitoring, administration of retails, reporting and recommendations.
  • Provide accurate and updated data with each audit cycle. Update and cleans data on an ongoing basis to maintain accuracy and avoid negative impact to Guests.
  • Administration of pricing strategy and governance of pricing processes (i.e., targets, competitive set)
  • Provide pre and post impact analysis of key promotional campaigns on sales and margin.
  • Space planning (Planograms) :

  • Maximize sales $ and profit $ opportunities by creating planograms and processes to assist in the reduction of shrink, increase product turns, grow Private Brand penetration, improve supply chain efficiencies and improve customer experience.
  • Assist with the production and distribution of completed planogram package for stores, field management and home SC personnel.
  • Assist with the Data maintenance of Planograming Tool.
  • Revise planograms, as needed.
  • Reporting, Analysis :

  • Provide analysis to allow the business to make sound decisions.
  • Provides reporting to help gain understanding of past results.
  • Identifies opportunities, insights, and recommendation for improvements.
  • Ensure accuracy of reporting and other documentations.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Competencies :

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, or Technology
  • 1-3 years of experience working within the Merchandising function or experience as an Analyst.
  • Min 3 years of analytical experience (ideally in a retail environment) with emphasis on data modelling, preferred.
  • Advance Microsoft Access skills, advance Excel skills, working knowledge of SQL and SAP an asset.
  • Must have strong quantitative and analytical skills working with and manipulating large amounts of data.
  • Result-oriented self-starter with ability to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across business units.
  • Ability to produce high quality and accurate results in a deadline driven environment

  • Working Conditions :

  • Work is performed in a standard SC / Store environment with participation in meetings.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities with regular deadlines.
  • Travel to various stores, Support Center and Warehouse, Grocery Gateway locations as required
