Position : Senior Business Analyst

Location : Downtown Toronto

Type : Full-Time

Our client is looking for a seasoned, dynamic, and highly motivated Senior Business Analyst to join a risk management-based team of Business Analysts.

This is a very exciting position that will contribute to the strength, enhancement, design and sustainability of a suite of products and support tools.

Responsibilities :

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team of Developers, Financial / Integration Engineers, and Managers, to research, design, and enhance a suite of risk measurement and investment support tools and product lines.
  • Ensure client requirements are understood and developed into sustainable product-features by participating in the end-to-end life cycle of risk measurement and investment support tools, placing a strong emphasis on product design.
  • Understand client requirements and design them into high-quality business requirements and product specifications by :
  • Working with internal business and development groups as well as external clients.
  • Drawing on experience in risk management.
  • Drawing on knowledge of the buy- and sell-side markets.
  • Provide mentorship and direction regarding product development.
  • Take ownership and responsibility of client requests and understand where improvements can be made.
  • Maintain client relationships, and interview clients during advisory meetings.
  • Train new and existing clients on risk measurement and investment support tools, as well as provide implementation advice, as well as customization requirements for different lines of business.
  • Investigate and resolve client support issues.
  • Provide ad hoc customizations to plug-in modules and reports.
  • Conduct hands-on testing of products, as well as conduct training and demos regarding new functionalities.
  • Build knowledge and provide leadership on products from a business and technical standpoint.
  • Review documentation and provide input.
  • Assist pre-sales as-needed - provide technical advice, demonstrations & workshops, and solution-specific background material, and advise professional services on discovery events and implementation plans.
  • Qualifications :

  • Degree or College Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Financial Engineering, Mathematical Finance, or combination of both;
  • quantitative undergraduate background in pure or applied science is preferable.

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the financial services industry covering risk management or related areas; previous experience in marketing software to the financial industry an asset.
  • Must possess a strong understanding of financial economics and the business of banking, preferably with some previous exposure to risk management.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be confident with delivering effective presentations.
  • Must be analytical and able to solve problems in an effective, efficient manner.
  • Able to juggle multiple priorities and work with competing demands within small, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in multiple languages a very strong asset.
