Reliance Foundry is looking for a quality-conscious and detail-oriented Mechanical Design Engineer to grow with us. The successful candidate will lead our engineering design and support for both old and new products.
This position will focus on the design, outsourced manufacturing, QA, and testing of new products. Other core responsibilities will include :
Creating detailed designs of components and products for manufacturing, optimizing various process. methodologies, including DFM, Control Plans, and Quality specifications.
Participating in design reviews, testing and introduction of new products and product derivatives.
Troubleshooting end-user issues and assisting in the implementation of effective solutions; enhance product reliability.
Liaising with existing suppliers to ensure product specifications are met.
Preparing product manuals and other technical documents for internal and external use.
The successful Engineer :
Has a minimum of 3+ years of experience in mechanical design.
Has some artistic ability to take line-drawing concepts and turn them into gorgeous end-products.
Demonstrates quality design and drafting principles related to casting, forging, metalworking, machining, welding, fabrication, processing.
Understands the use case for Sand casting vs. Gravity casting, Investment vs. Die casting, Forging vs. Machining, etc.
The ideal candidate values Customer Service and will be required to interface with primarily vendors, but occasionally customers.
Demonstrates a strong mechanical aptitude and has an ability to develop functional and reliable mechanical solutions and prototypes.
Primary materials of use will be Steel, Aluminum, Iron, and Stainless Steel.
Able to work independently with minimum supervision in a very fast paced, results driven environment.
Is an analytical thinker and proactive with superior problem-solving initiatives.
Has an expert level written and verbal communication skills.Preference will be given to those with fluency in multiple languages such as Cantonese and Mandarin.
Ensures QA / QC and compliance to health and safety standards are met and exceeded throughout all processes.Preference given to those with experience in an ISO 9001 environment.
Ability to thrive in a team environment that measures KPI’s daily and excel as an individual contributor.
Generate detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings of mechanical (and sometimes electro-mechanical) design layouts using AutoCAD Inventor from internal sources, customer provided drawings, rough sketches or from general engineering design information gathered from design meetings.
Create bill of materials.
Perform and evaluate QA / QC inspections and tests to ensure product quality meets industry standards.
Revise Inventor models and drawings as needed.
Always working to maximize efficiency of manufacturing workflows.
Prioritize and maintain project schedules.
Maintain the accuracy of the master documentation and digital filing systems throughout multiple products.
Strong computer skills, proficient with CAD software (AutoCAD Inventor) and ERP systems.
Strong aptitude with the MS Office suite of products.

A diploma or degree in a Mechanical Engineering program, and / or related experience in a similar field.
