About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor in the Atlantic Business Analysis team challenging the business whilst at the same time generating value-accretive ideas.

This role is a great opportunity to work in a strategic role which requires a broad scope of industry, business, country, regional and operations specific research and analysis to create world class strategies, integrated business plans and value adding, commercial and operational decisions.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Business analysis, you will :

  • Generate and evaluate business cases for investments proposals, commercial and business development opportunities, and strategic initiatives.
  • Work with operations and the commercial function to structure and develop business cases : identification and analysis of market and operational drivers, risks, overall valuation.
  • Develop investment committee papers, to present to the Rio Tinto senior management.
  • Support senior management in negotiating and executing projects, through robust analysis.
  • Contribute to the strategy and planning process of Product Groups by conducting analysis, and providing updates on the valuation of assets.
  • About you

    To succeed in this role, you will have :

  • Bachelor’s in engineering, Finance, or Economics.
  • Master / MBA degree an asset.
  • English and French proficiency (both spoken and written).
  • 2-5 years of experience in analytically demanding roles (e.g. engineering, corporate finance, management consulting).
  • Prior experience in mining and metals, oil and gas or other capital-intensive heavy industry a plus (either directly or through professional services).
  • Strong analytically.
  • Able to combine structure and creativity in problem solving,
  • Able to rapidly understand and analyses a business situation / an investment proposal.
  • Effective in financial modeling, with a sound understanding of valuation concepts (e.g. IRR, NPV).
  • Excellent in written and oral communication, with an ability to structure / synthetize key messages
  • Highly driven, keen to learn and develop.
  • Effective at managing your time and at prioritizing across multiple files.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Business and commercial acumen.
