What YOU Will Do
In collaboration with the Superintendent and Construction Manager, propose solutions to technical problems encountered;
In collaboration with the Superintendent and Subcontractors, propose solutions for the non-conformities that are discovered;
Draw up the construction procedures required by the project;
Follow up on technical correspondence with the Owners Representatives and Subcontractors;
Check that technical changes issued by the Owners Representatives are carried out on site;
Supervise the preparation of required construction plans and temporary installations;
In collaboration with the Superintendent, prepare the work cycles and the detailed 3-week schedules;
Manage and check the conformity of shop drawings and other technical documents submitted;
Ensure that the Quality Management Plan and the Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) are properly applied;
Approve the Environmental Plan and the Spill Intervention Plan and see that they are properly applied;
Liaise between the Contractor and the Client and between the Contractor and the Subcontractors in matters involving quality;
Validate quality-related records and follows up on them;
Coordinate the inspections and tests made on site in order to achieve the required work;
Independently conduct inspections to ensure work is compliant with the project requirements;
Compile data and statistics on the control of materials;
Supervise the deficiencies lists and monitor the corrective actions;
Provide the necessary support to project team members in applying the Quality Management Plan;
Use your proactive approach to identify quality related risks on job sites;
Effectively compile work site quality statistics monthly;
Use your compliance reporting expertise to follow up on and identify root causes;
Actively analyze corrective / preventative measures and verify results;
Continually develop and drive the implementation of all quality assurance standards;
Demonstrate leadership in Quality Management on site;
Keep the lines of communication open through regular attendance to site meetings and site visits;
Celebrate project success and completion and be a key member of the project wrap-up process.
What YOU Will Bring
10+ years' experience in the construction industry and in quality coordination on construction projects (civil experience on medium to large projects is preferred);
Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Building Engineering or Civil Engineering or a combination of education and industry experience;
A proven track record of quality-related project success and team collaboration;
Outstanding leadership and organizational skills;
A dynamic and creative approach with a flair for being proactive and applying good judgement techniques in all situations;
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written;
Good computer skills are a must;
Knowledge of the Atlantic Canada market and ability to work throughout the region.
