We specialize in lighting, power, signal and communication systems. Brief Description The Senior Manager, Business will lead and oversee business development by working with the Finance team on business unit financial management and reporting.

They will also work on Business Development activities, including a review of geographic / sector markets for Technologies with a mandate to grow the Fibre Optic business, inter-

affiliate work for EPCOR affiliates and expand opportunities to provide services to land developers. This role will work with a Finance Senior Manager to ensure that business unit financial reporting, including report preparation, budget preparation, coordination of internal CSOX requirements is completed in a timely and accurate manner.

The Senior Manager, Finance & Business Development reports to the Director, Technologies and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by the Director, Technologies.

Detailed Description Accountabilities : Provide input to the Business Development plans and directions, ensure an appropriate understanding of the Technologies strategy throughout EPCOR and ensure on-

going effective positioning and appropriate relationships both internally and externally. Develop and implement 1 2 year deliverables within the context of the Technologies growth strategy (including mission, vision, values, strategic positioning, operational plan and resource plan).

Ensure business plans and deliverables of direct report positions are aligned and integrated, include performance expectations and deliverable metrics.

  • Assume a key role (involve, contribute and provide leadership) in Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Proposal (RFP) submissions on behalf of EPCOR;
  • retain and oversee the work of external experts and advisors on opportunities and projects. Develop Relationships with Business Partners, including the development of associations and relationships with key business partners within EPCOR, the City of Edmonton, UDI and the Fibre community (ensuring an understanding of business workings in the region), and develop and manage a database of key clients (existing and potential).

    Undertake overall project analysis including technical and financial feasibility; direct the negotiation of complex long-

    term contracts that have design and build, operational and financial components to achieve corporate objectives and support regional market growth.

    Create a strong team of professional, and provide appropriate context and prescribed limits for the development of Stratum 2 employees.

    Identify the necessary budget requirements for pursuit plans, valuation support, deal flows, and any other processes necessary in the pursuit of project development and investments.

    Meet the Team’s pursuit budget targets. Provide input to the S4 with oversight over Technologies’ plans and directions, ensure an appropriate understanding of the Technologies strategy throughout Financial Reporting function and ensure on-

    going effective positioning and appropriate relationships between EDTI Finance and in the rest of EUI. Developing EPCOR’s strategic market initiatives within the various levels of public government, in the private sector and across communities and industrial clients in Canada.

    Oversee the deal structuring of commercial projects from identification / conceptualization to financial close / completion including technical proposal (capex / opex) development, business evaluation, risk assessment, executive approval, definitive contract execution, and ongoing commercial management.

    Establish, monitor, measure and report performance metrics. Analyze and identify issues to ensure achievement of financial results, and accurate and timely reporting and forecasting for Technologies.

    Planning, coordinating, summarization and reporting of financial aspects of the annual budget and long-term forecasts. Maintenance of high quality internal controls (ie.

    CSOX). Develop and nurture a high performance, high discipline, safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.

    Authorities : Financial : Approval authority for items within the Business Development plan, within Technologies context and prescribed limits.

    Human Resources : Hire and terminate staff within Senior Manager, Finance & Business Development within Technologies and Controller context and prescribed limits.

    Approves expenditures within approved Finance & Business Development resource plan and budget. Approves all Finance & Business Development standards and practices within Technologies and Finance & Business Development context and prescribed limits.

    Job Requirements The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications : Knowledge / Training / Education : A relevant combination of prior experience and a university degree.

    10 years of experience with a good background and technical knowledge of transportation infrastructure, electrical assets and / or construction processes.

    7+ years of experience managing and leading a team. Technical Skills : Proven track record of developing investment opportunities from identification to financial close.

    Comprehension of deal structure and contracts focused on business processes. Business acumen with strong commercial and financial aptitude.

    Experience preparing effective proposals, business plans, and market assessments. Ability to explain accounting and regulatory concepts to Finance and non-

    Finance team members Understanding and use of Excel applications for model development Familiarity with operational and legal contracts.

    Technical competency in construction and operating agreements. Understanding of utility and rate-regulated business operations.
