Reporting to the Vice-President, Sovereign Credit of the Fixed Income team, the incumbent - in collaboration with team members - contributes to management of the bond portfolio and to the performance of the Sovereign Credit mandate.
The Sovereign Credit mandate is an important part of the Fixed Income portfolio and involves mostly investments in sovereign and quasi-sovereign debt in growth and developed markets.
The management approach focuses on absolute returns while maintaining sensitivity to market benchmarks and is based on a long-term investment horizon.
Actively participate in the design and development of the strategy and investment themes and in their implementation in conjunction with the portfolio's performance objectives;
Ensure performance objectives for the mandate's portfolios are achieved;In collaboration with the team, carry out project research and fundamental analysis related to the strategy, investment themes and underlying issuers;
Actively participate in producing documents required for the approval of the investment strategy and related themes;Prepare investment recommendations and present them to the various management committees;
Monitor relevant macroeconomic and geopolitical trends related to securities in the portfolio as well as their implications on the overall strategy;
Play an active role in the investment due diligence process;Contribute to the development of the global portfolio-construction strategy in order to help the team and the sector meet value-added objectives;
Forge strong ties with the main actors in the sector and maintain a network of external contacts;Participate in the development of analysis, research and oversight systems.
At least 10 years' experience in bonds portfolio management, including at least 7 years in growth markets; An undergraduate or graduate degree in a relevant financial discipline;
CFA designation is an asset;A good track record of demonstrated performance in portfolio management;Excellent command of analysis concepts related to macroeconomics and sovereign credit;
Ability to develop, defend and communicate contrarian investment ideas;Excellent ability to generate, present and defend investment ideas to achieve a total return objective;
Excellent knowledge of international and growth economy sovereign bond markets;Good knowledge of various cash and derivative instruments in main growth economies;
Fluency in French and English. Fluency in an additional language is an asset.
