The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Adult Outpatient Program performs the intake and triage function for the program, including comprehensive psychiatric assessments for patients referred to the AOP program and prepares written documentation / reports to be shared with the physician.

The RN also provides system navigation support to patients as needed; offers psychoeducation, medication information, and assessment of symptoms.

The RN works collaboratively with other members of the AOP team including the Urgent Care Clinic and the Rapid Assessment Program to determine clinic processes and patient management.

Some coverage of the AOP injection clinic may be required.

Qualifications :

  • Registered Nurse - B.Sc.N.
  • Minimum three years’ Psychiatric Nursing / related experience
  • Experience in clinical assessment and triage required
  • Outpatient, community, and / or Crisis nursing experience required
  • Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current BCLS Certification.
  • Committed to the multi-disciplinary team treatment approach as demonstrated by a collaborative and collegial attitude.
  • Expert clinical assessment skills.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to share areas of expertise with team members.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, including consistent ability to empathize and respect others.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with the ability to seek assistance / supervision when necessary.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the provision of clinical services for persons with serious persistent mental illness Demonstrated understanding of psycho-
  • social rehabilitation principles and commitment to client-directed services.

  • Demonstrated expertise in psychiatric and community nursing.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a good attendance record and meet the performance standards of the Health Centre
