Our growing Ottawa office currently requires a qualified Project Manager Intermediate Electrical Engineer. The ideal candidate is hard-

working and eager to increase their responsibilities and to take on a significant role within the company.

As a member of our professional team, you will be responsible for working on a wide variety of projects, with emphasis on federal, commercial, and institutional clients.

You will work with electrical systems for buildings including :

  • data;
  • fire detection and alarm;
  • lightning protection; and
  • communication systems.
  • The focus of electrical work includes designs, specifications, cost estimates, studies, site reviews, investigations and reports, project management and contract administration.

    Technical Skills

  • Perform electrical site investigations and surveys
  • Develop electrical concept reports, options reports, condition reports, and construction budgets
  • Develop electrical designs for projects including drawings and specifications
  • Review codes and standards and obtain preliminary approvals where appropriate
  • Represent the electrical portion of a project during the contract administration stage including carrying out shop drawing reviews, preparing site instructions and CCNs, reviewing progress draws, etc.
  • Perform site inspections and prepare field observation reports
  • Assist in researching new systems, resources, analytical processes, procedures and working practices to identify and implement changes to increase efficiency, productivity and overall profitability
  • Project Management and Quality Assurance

  • Prepare fee proposals : Review of technical requirements in RFPs Solicit sub-consultants for the team as required Prepare proposal template and content Prepare Level of Effort Breakdown and determine fee
  • Act as prime point of contact for key clients
  • Responsible for communicating with clients to understand the project requirements, deadlines and expectations for successful project completion, invoicing, and follow-
  • up on outstanding accounts

  • Responsible for communicating with sub-consultants and team members to solicit fee proposals, develop milestone dates, communicate deliverable requirements, track work progress, coordinate / review sub-
  • consultant and project team work, and prepare invoicing

  • Interface with all relevant external parties for proper coordination of contract documents or resolution of project deficiencies.
  • External parties may include architects, engineers, Electrical Safety Authority (ESA), local distribution company and telecom-

    related service providers

  • Assign and supervise delegated tasks for content and completion in assigned hours
  • Provide marked up sketches to CAD operator; back-check drawings for quality control
  • Ensure proper coordination of documents with the other design disciplines
  • Coordinate electrical system installation requirements with other design disciplines
  • Perform quality control reviews to ensure that the design of electrical systems is in accordance with relevant codes and standards (OESC, OBC, NFPA, etc.
  • which includes the design and layout of power, lighting, fire alarm, telecommunications, emergency lighting, normal power and emergency power distribution systems

  • Display initiative and resourcefulness in the performance of tasks
  • Manage project tasks within assigned time and budget constraints
  • Teamwork

  • Attend client meetings
  • Attend co-ordination meetings with design team
  • Train and assist junior staff as required
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, other consultants, and key stakeholders to ensure projects run smoothly and to resolve concerns promptly and efficiently
  • Maintain existing business and inform Department Manager of new business opportunities, if they arise
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in the field of electrical engineering for buildings (design and construction)
  • University degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario (PEO)
  • Eligible to seek security clearances with the Federal Government
  • Valid drivers' license
  • Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients
  • Strong sense of initiative and ability to prioritize tasks
  • Sound English language communications skills (oral and written)
  • Demonstrated experience working with other consultants and contractors including coordination of significant projects
  • Knowledge of OBC, NBCC, OESC, and NFPA codes and standards
  • Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Familiarity with MS Office, AutoCAD, and NMS specifications
  • Asset Qualifications (beneficial, but not necessary)

  • Ingénieur (ing.) licensed in the Province of Québec
  • Familiarity with Revit
