Your opportunity

Dillon’s Environmental Sciences technical group is looking for a Junior Environmental Engineer / Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team of professionals.

You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.

This position is to join our Atmospheric Services team located in one of our Ontario office locations (Kitchener, Guelph, Windsor, or Toronto).

Responsibilities

What your day will look like

Project Coordination and Technical Assessments (94%)

  • Support with air dispersion modelling and Emission Summary and Dispersion Modelling (ESDM) reports
  • Assist with acoustics, noise, and vibration modelling and technical assessments
  • Assist with federal and provincial regulatory reporting programs
  • Support municipal land use compatibility assessments
  • Assist with air quality and acoustic impact assessments as part of federal, provincial or municipal environmental assessment projects
  • Develop and implement environmental scopes of work and proposals
  • Coordinate with laboratories, clients, subcontractors, third-party stakeholders
  • Compile and analyze data, and assist in supporting environmental reports, including : data tables, field observation documentation, GIS / CAD, etc.
  • Assist in report writing and preparation of technical memos, letters, reports, spreadsheets and figures
  • Assist to project managers and other team members, including geoscientists, biologists, engineers, planners, and environmental scientists
  • Coordinate and manage of project tasks, budgets and schedules
  • Comply with applicable health and safety procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to work remotely if required

  • Qualifications

    What you will need to succeed

  • A degree in environmental engineering, or another relevant environmental science / engineering discipline
  • 0-3 years of experience is an asset
  • Available to work in remote locations
  • Strong work ethic with willingness to conduct field work
  • Experience in environmental consulting is an asset
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Experience

  • Knowledge in several of : air and noise modelling and monitoring, field procedures, basic chemistry, contracting / construction, site characterization, waste management, landfill design, health and safety will be considered an asset
  • Experience working in industrial / manufacturing facilities and around heavy equipment, including drill rigs and excavators, will be considered an asset
  • Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and organizational skills
  • Exceptional problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrated abilities to work in multidisciplinary team and independently
  • Knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation and policies will be considered an asset
  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD, GIS, Surfer or database abilities will be an asset
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office family of products
