The Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation (SJRHF) is seeking a dynamic and driven Major Gifts Officer to proactively manage a donor portfolio and build a prospect pipeline of donors to support the core funding priorities of the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation.

The Major Gifts Officer is primarily responsible for generating fundraising revenue by identifying and cultivating prospective donors for the purpose of soliciting major gifts, while also engaging and stewarding donor relationships through regular communication and recognition.

Reporting to the Vice President, and working in collaboration with the Foundation's development team, the new incumbent will play a critical role in providing prospective donors with meaningful opportunities to impact healthcare delivery in the Province of New Brunswick.

Founded in 1984, the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation has experienced tremendous growth having raised over 30% of its cumulative $100 million in the last 5 years.

Joining us at an exciting time of growth, the Major Gifts Officer will be key to achieving our vision of becoming the number one charity of choice in the province of New Brunswick, in support of the province s largest tertiary care hospital and additional key priority areas that will advance healthcare for all New Brunswickers.

As the SJRHF works toward achieving it's exciting mandate, it is now seeking to grow its inspired team with a new Major Gifts Officer.

The incumbent will play a critical role in securing funds for the organization by managing a group of assigned donors, developing new opportunities for support and acting as an ambassador for the SJRHF.

The Major Gifts Officer is responsible for overseeing the stewardship of current donors and solicitation of prospective donors to the current campaigns and other special initiatives.

Developing and maintaining a portfolio of 100 donors / prospects ranging from $5,000 - $100,000 level, the incumbent will : Qualify a portfolio of donors,

  • Create individual goals for each person in his or her portfolio based on the donor's history of giving and the organization's knowledge of that donor's potential,
  • Create a plan for each donor that will serve as a foundational communication and marketing plan for each person in the portfolio.
  • Will faithfully and on a timely basis, execute that plan so individuals in the portfolio are retained and upgraded,

  • Work collaboratively with Foundation team members to secure appropriate project information, including budgets, and create offers, proposals and asks that will be used with individuals in the portfolio to secure gifts,
  • Fully utilize the Raiser's Edge NXT platform to document all moves management engagement
  • And will perform other major donor activities as may be required.
  • Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in front-line fundraising, the most recent in Major Gifts fundraising
  • Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience with a demonstrated track record of achievement in securing major gifts
  • Displays an exceptional level of professionalism, knowledge, productivity and high ethical standards
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to work in an environment of accountability and metrics
  • Excellent time management skills with background in donor / prospect databases (Raiser's Edge NXT preferred)
  • Strong team player with proven collaboration skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to interact effectively with individuals across the organization
  • Demonstrate tact and an ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Access to a vehicle and valid driver's licence
  • Exceptional communications skills in English. Ability to communicate in both of Canada's official languages will be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment that requires a flexible schedule, including travel and occasional weekends and evenings.
  • University degree / College diploma in relevant field required

    Operated by Horizon Health Network, Saint John Regional Hospital (SJRH) opened in 1982, replacing the Saint John General Hospital and West Saint John Community Hospital facilities.

    It is the largest tertiary care hospital in New Brunswick and is the primary health care referral centre to all New Brunswickers for major trauma and cardiac care.

    The New Brunswick Trauma Program and the New Brunswick Heart Centre are located within the hospital.

    Saint John Regional Hospital offers 484 inpatient beds and a full range of in-patient, out-patient and emergency services including medical, surgical, obstetrical, paediatric and family practice medical specialties, with related nursing, para-

    professional, technical and support facilities.

    SJRH is a teaching hospital for the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia as well as the Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St.

    John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. It also provides training opportunities for nursing and other health care programs at the University of New Brunswick's Saint John and Fredericton campuses and the New Brunswick Community College.
