    Position Description

    Reporting to the Area Manager, the Branch Manager is held accountable for all aspects of branch operations at our Gold Creek landfill and process facility (MPF), sales, customer service and the delivery of branch results consistent with the Business Unit Plans.

    The Branch Manager maintains a 0-3 month focus and manages all activities consistent with the budget.

    Management of Business :

  • Manages all aspects of facility operations including scheduling of work and productivity, efficiency, cost control, preventative maintenance, housekeeping, inventory levels, ensuring full compliance with corporate policies and procedures;
  • Establishes and maintains facility Operating procedures consistent with corporate standards;
  • Manages quality control and assurance to ensure consistent operating performance;
  • Identifies and recommends process improvements;
  • Develops and maintains good working relationships with suppliers and local Regulators;
  • Ensures facility operations are conducted in accordance with corporate policies and procedures and permit conditions, implements and maintains the site’s Environmental Management System and OH & S program;
  • Attends safety meetings on a regular basis and provides support as needed;
  • Reports on all incidents, and conducts investigations of minor incidents;
  • Establishes and maintains a community relations program.
  • Customer Service / Sales :

  • Identify key and target customers, develop and implement sales plans to obtain these clients and report on progress;
  • Understands the business and can clearly articulate the key features and benefits as well as the competitive advantages of the service;
  • Develop and manage relationships with customers, facilitating customer service and satisfaction;
  • Participate in the implementation of new business opportunities and service additions;
  • Ensure that the integrity of the pricing structure is maintained;
  • Participate in establishment of prices for non-core goods and services.
  • Business Planning :

  • Participates in the preparation of detailed annual operating budgets;
  • Controls costs to budget and prepares monthly variance reports;
  • Ensures that all financial reporting, including weekly reports are accurate and match revenues and costs;
  • Manages facility production and cost accounting activities, and ensures that all inventories, accruals, deferrals, etc.
  • are accurate and reflect the facility’s current position.

    Asset Management :

  • Recommends capital projects for facility improvements and cost savings;
  • Manages capital projects up to $0.5 million;
  • Participates in the commissioning of new processes and services;
  • Provides leadership to operations staff, in particular, Operations Supervisors;
  • Communicates Regional, Divisional and Corporate initiatives to employees.
  • Experience, Qualifications & Education :

  • Knowledge of the oil & gas industry & strong technical aptitude preferred;
  • 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role overseeing plant or related operation preferred;
  • 3-5 years’ experience managing safety and business processes applicable to a landfill and equipment operation;
  • Experience with facility operations including ; scheduling of work, cost control, equipment maintenance, inventory level, scheduling, and quality control;
  • Successful track record in meeting operations goals, improving efficiency and cost control, and further recommending process improvement ideas;
  • Experience in dealing with clients and providing exceptional customer service;
  • Proven ability in meeting or exceeding sales targets;
  • Experience in managing financials and developing strategy.
  • This is a safety sensitive position. Offers of employment are conditional upon successful completion of required medical, physical, drug and alcohol testing.

    Candidates are required to be legally authorized to work in Canada.
