This position will be based out of the Sudbury location but will also involve remote service at additional customer locations including underground mine sites for extended periods of time.
As a fully trained VFSS technician you must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. We are willing to train the right candidate who is willing to grow and pursue a career in fire and life protection services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* Train as a mobile service technician to provide VFSS Scheduled maintenance, inspection, repairs & installs (A101 & Kidde) to new and existing customers.
Cross train in the maintenance and service of Fire Extinguishers & other Fire & Life Safety Services Equipment including Stored Pressure & Cartridge Operated Fire Extinguishers (Portable & Wheeled) as required.
Provide in shop support as required* Hydro testing of Fire Extinguishers.* Work with the locally assigned Service Coordinator to schedule service work and maintain the ordering of parts.
Maintain service vehicle inventory and all required tools* Complete all applicable H&S Paperwork associated with company H & S policies and ISO procedures.
Be an ongoing contributor to the development of JHA’s (Job Hazard Assessments) and Safe Work Practices relevant to the position* Accurate and timely completion of service paperwork to facilitate prompt billing, certification(s) of equipment, expenses & other required paperwork.
Perform after hours and on call duties as required.* Other Duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS* Minimum of grade 12 or equivalent* Mechanical Aptitude with Basic Electrical Knowledge* Prior experience providing on site mobile customer service is an asset* Ability to work with minimal supervision* Comfortable using technology such as iPads, cell phones and laptops* Must be able to work out of town as required for extended and overnight stays* Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract* Must successfully pass Pre-Employment and periodic Drug & Alcohol Testing Physical requirements include : * Working in restricted work spaces and from ladders and walkways on large equipment and working on equipment in underground mines as required.
Good hand / eye coordination & manual dexterity* Prolonged sitting in vehicles, and driving times.* Lift and carry up to 50lbs unassisted.
Extensive walking will be required at times, in addition to working in areas of extreme heat and cold. * The incumbent will regularly work in dusty, dirty environments as well as hot and cold temperatures.
