  • Job Summary

    Provides student services program support that will include financial aid functions. Performs customer service to students through online chat, phone calls and supporting our students at the financial aid counter.

    Perform duties such as daily review and process of financial aid documents. Participate on a committee to review satisfactory academic progress appeals.

    Provide outreach regarding student services areas to include financial aid by counseling students about eligibility and required documents.

    Work with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the general public. Also, other duties as assigned.

    Essential Functions

  • 40% - Provides student services program support that will include financial aid functions; performs customer service to students through online chat, phone calls and supporting our students at the financial aid counter;
  • perform duties such as daily review and process of financial aid documents; participate on a committee to review satisfactory academic progress appeals.

  • 25% - Provide outreach regarding student services areas to include financial aid by counseling students about eligibility and required documents;
  • work with a diverse population of administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the general public.

    15% - Assists in analyzing / interpreting regulations for financial aid programs and responds to inquiries requiring detailed knowledge of regulations and policies from internal and external customers.

  • 10% - Assists with administering financial aid programs such as student loan programs; reviews office practices and procedures;
  • may assist in training of students, staff, and temporaries.

  • 10% - May evaluate and take action on student appeals, conduct FA presentations to student groups regarding financial aid / scholarship resources and policies and provide general clerical assistance;
  • performs other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in business administration, education or directly related field, and one year of experience assisting with educational program development and coordination, student advisement, financial aid, or related student development programs.

    An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.

    Desired Qualifications

    1. Recent experience (within last 12 months) in a financial aid office with knowledge, programs, and student financial aid guidelines.

    2. Experience with customer service and counseling students and parents on financial aid regulations, institutional policies, and financial aid award inquiries.

    3. Experience with various computer software specific to financial aid, proficient in National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD), Central Processing System (CPS), processing financial aid in a student information system.

    Special Working Conditions

    This is a one-year-only position.

    Must not be in default or overpayment of personal federal financial aid funds.

    Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required if driving a college vehicle; must meet minimum standards regarding driving :

    Travel to campus during interview / selection process will be at candidate’s own expense

    Will be required to travel or be assigned to all MCCCD locations

    May require numerous evenings or weekends

    May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen

    May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs
