Le centre de compétences pour la signalisation ferroviaire urbaine est situé au centre-ville de Toronto. Nous sommes le plus grand bureau situé au Canada et nous disposons d’un service pour chaque étape du cycle de vie du développement logiciel (SDLC).

The RAMS Manager reports to the Head of Technical Safety & System Assurance for London Prand liaises with the Chief Safety Architect.

In addition, the RAMS Engineering Manager has an independent reporting path to the Safety Authority for Thales Canada.

  • Manage the RAM & Safety Engineering team, ensuring the safety processes are followed, and the safety activities for projects / product remain within budget and schedule
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of all safety management activities, review and approve safety plans and safety documents
  • Develop effective safety case strategies, including safety case dependencies; supervise all safety activities supporting the safety case
  • Coordinate hazard identification and analysis activities, safety design reviews, hazard management and safety risk assessment
  • Support internal and external safety audits and assessments; liaise with the Independent Safety Assessors, as necessary
  • Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage the Safety Engineering team, ensuring the safety processes are followed, and the safety activities for projects / product remain within budget and schedule
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of all safety management activities, review and approve safety plans and safety documents
  • Develop effective safety case strategies, including safety case dependencies, supervise all safety activities supporting the safety case
  • Coordinate hazard identification and analysis activities, safety design reviews, hazard management and safety risk assessment
  • Support internal and external safety audits and assessments; liaise with the Independent Safety Assessors, as necessary
  • Skills and Experience :

  • Education and technical background in electronics, computer science or electrical field (minimum B.Sc. in Electronics / Computer / Electrical Engineering)
  • At least 10 years of experience in relevant technical field (systems, software or hardware engineering) with a minimum of 5 years managerial experience
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a safety assurance role in safety critical systems - aerospace, train control, medical, nuclear, automotive
  • Experience with safety planning, hazard management, safety cases, and interfacing with Independent Safety Assessor (ISA) and Safety Authorities
  • Experience in safety methods and techniques : FTA, FMEA / FMECA, HAZOP / HAZID
  • Excellent knowledge of safety related standards EN 50126 / 128 / 129 / 159
  • Knowledge of IEC 61508, MIL-STD-882 / 1629, MoD 00-55 / 56 / 58, ARP 4761, IEEE 1474, and AREMA is beneficial
  • Excellent communication and team motivation skills
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Good problem-solving skills, creative and able to learn quickly
