Job Description : Role Summary

Role Summary

With your passion for innovation, data and technology, you will have the unique opportunity to lead the engineering for our Canada Client Engagement Platform.

Reporting to the AVP, Client Engagement Engineering, you will work with other business and engineering partners to identify how to weave together our data, existing capabilities and marketplace solutions to ensure that our client engagement platform realizes its full potential for creating engaging personalized experiences for the Canadians who interact with us.

What will you do?

  • In collaboration with the Client Engagement business owners and our architecture team, define a capability aspiration based on our strategy, an vision architecture and prioritize into a roadmap
  • Document and communicate the vision for the Client Engagement platform
  • Explore research and analyze marketplace available solutions and start-up innovations and envision how they could transform our client engagement experience
  • Prioritize and sequence key investments in data, AI, machine learning, natural language and interaction capabilities to continuously improve our ability to identify client needs and provide most personalized and relevant responses
  • Lead vendor engagements and drive IT initiatives for trialing and / or acquiring new capabilities to continually push the thinking on what we can do to help our clients achieve their wealth goals and live healthier lives
  • What will you need to succeed?

  • 8+ years as part of a high-performance marketing organization
  • University degree in Engineering, Computer Science or similar
  • Strong understanding of the marketing technology landscape and a perspective on the problems solved by various technologies
  • Proven ability to develop creative, client-centered solutions which balance experience, complexity, and speed to market dimensions
  • Strong technical skills, while you won’t be coding, you need to understand algorithms, data models and the science behind machine learning
  • Very curious about fintech, insurtech and innovations; an early adopter of technology and love to experiment
  • Superb communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Vendor negotiation and management experience
  • Strong analytic and creative thinker

  • The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.

    In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.

    Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
