The Product Owner is responsible for continuous and early delivery of business value, identifying capabilities and features by being the subject matter expert (SME) and working with internal stakeholders and the agile team to produce high quality features for cash management multinational capabilities to be delivered via Host-to-Host, online platform and Swift channels.
In collaboration with the agile team, the Product Owner will be engaged throughout the different phases of the product lifecycle and will actively evolve the product roadmap.
The Product Owner (PO) will be expected to represent the voice of the customer and prioritize the backlog.
Moreover, the incumbent will tirelessly advocate for the vision and customer experience while aligning with the existing service offered in the different Scotiabank international destinations, ensuring that multinational and local corporate and commercial (country where the service is being delivered) market practices are considered.
Working together with internal stakeholders the product owner leads the design of business process for training, pre-sales, client product onboarding and production support.
1. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for a multi-country cash management service delivered via host to host or SWIFT by :
Being responsible for defining a product’s release and iteration backlog based on product’s overall vision, existing local and multinational market needs, customer experience and the agile team.
Understand and articulate the product’s vision, including its objectives, value proposition, and key risks associated with opportunities / ideas
Assist in the validation of epics and user stories as well as other activities such as user experience testing. Also, engaging SMEs from other areas to collaborate with the different features / processes related to the MVP being released
Prioritize backlog to ensure highest value features / epics are developed first and that all stories are aligned with and traceable to the product vision
Make decisions about the product’s direction, keeping in mind the overall vision of the initiative and the countries involved (Pacific Alliance countries) to ensure consistency and alignment among them once the entire solution is in place
Constantly interact with the Sales teams (in Canada and in the PACB countries) to answer questions related to the solution being designed and how it compares to the existing ones
Drive pilot customer activities in coordination with the Sales teams (locally and internationally)
Develop product roadmap and high-level backlog, further decomposed into releases which deliver significant value to the customer.
Prioritize (and continuously reprioritize) delivery based on the calculated benefits / value of identified features / epics.
Participate in iteration planning discussions to reduce ambiguity around the user stories and ensure clarity, optimize functionality and define features that align with product vision
Define features, themes and epics in suitable levels of detail and prioritize them based on their respective business value
Manage lab product backlog (MVPs, enhancements, PLOGs, new requests)
2. Provide ongoing support and assistance to different teams (in Canada and the PACB countries) by :
Acting as a conduit between the Business teams (countries) and the agile team
Participate in the development of user stories with applicable acceptance criteria
Review the output of the agile team at the end of every iteration, and before the product is released into the market, to ensure that it meets expectations
Being available to provide definitions required to complete detailed user stories through face-to-face meetings
Contribute to discussions on solutions and execute assigned priorities with consideration and awareness of potential impact on other initiatives (the organization’s overall Product / Portfolio Backlog).
Daily, attend planning sessions, stand-ups, retrospectives, iteration reviews and other team meetings in order to verify that the output of the team is consistently delivering business value and aligned with the agreed upon commitments
Act as primary reviewer and approver of finished development work during iteration demos / reviews based on established acceptance criteria
3. Produce documentation and material to support the end-product once in production
Work closely to the different teams involved in the processes and procedures impacting the life of the service (including developers in the Lab and in the countries), to ensure deep understanding that will later translate into documentation that will support the service once in production to ensure an excellent customer experience
Create documentation, procedures, flows that will help the different operational and sales teams to support the service once in production
Deliver training to the PACB teams on the product capabilities and procedures to follow.
Design and create the required marketing material, in collaboration with the day-to-day Product Manager for the same service, to ensure alignment between the four Pacific Alliance countries as well as with the existing countries where the service is available.
Constantly produce presentations / decks targeting different audiences to socialize the work being done at the Lab and how it impacts their teams
4. Be the Business representation in the Lab by :
Assisting in the preparation and lead Sprint Reviews / Showcases / Lab tours targeting different audiences
Communicating effectively across diverse audiences within the organization including stakeholders, executives in Canada and in the countries
Actively collaborate and engage with the agile team and partner with Agile Coach to share findings, best practices, and resources to help mature the organization’s agility
Requirements & Qualifications :
Be bilingual (English / Spanish; written and spoken)
Have excellent communication / interpersonal / negotiating skills
Passion for technology and details.
Good communicator to be able to translate technical features to a business audience and viceversa.f
Ideally have subject matter expertise on Host-to-Host channel, cash management and payments to enable the thorough understanding of the service being implemented
Have experience working on complex initiatives that involve multiple countries and multicultural teams
Have experience working on an agile environment and deep understanding of the agile methodology
