POSITION SUMMARY :
The Health & Safety Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the facility’s health and safety management systems, to ensure company health and safety compliance in all levels of governmental legislation.
In addition, each H&S Coordinator will have a focus Area Environmental, Ergonomics, or WSIB & Claims Management. The Coordinator is a member of the Joint Health, Safety, Ergonomics and Environmental Committees and works closely with the health and wellness to reintegrate injured personnel to the workplace.
GENERAL DUTIES :
Management Co-Chair of JHSEEC and all functions associated with committee
Manages and administers professional health and safety services, Return to Work and all Occupational claims.
Reviews departmental / business unit investigations of accidents / incidents / spills, etc. and follows Preparing documents for legal compliance, hearings and insurance investigations
Analyzes accident statistics / type / frequency / severity and makes recommendations as required.
Key Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE :
Successful completion of post-secondary education in the field of Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental Management, Ergonomics or Human Resources Management with equivalent work-related experience and training.
Minimum three (3) years work-related experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
CRSP designation or equivalent a definite asset.
Must be able to apply knowledge and skills to the detection and solution of general and technical problems, must also be able to operate required measuring instruments, conduct testing / sampling, gather data, interpret analysis and legislation requirement / applications, write reports, make recommendations, and suggest improvements.
Maintain updates in specified field technology and legislative changes.
Knowledge and experience in applying ESA, Human Rights, OHSA and applicable regulations as well as WSIB policies and procedures.
Must be able to meet tight deadlines and cope with stressful situations positively and proactively.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Windows and Web-based applications, portals and various software programs as required.
