About Maccabi Canada

The Maccabiah Games, a prominent international sports competition, often referred to as the Jewish Olympics have become the largest regularly held international event in Israel.

In July 2017 the Maccabiah hosted 10,000 athletes representing 80 countries, making it the third largest athletic event in the world, behind only the Summer Olympics and the Asian Games.

Maccabi Canada sent 700 athletes and staff to the last Maccabiah games and was the second largest international delegation.

We focus on creating a path of engagement with the Jewish world, Jewish identity and Israel by engaging youth and young adults through their passion for sport.

Maccabi Canada takes athletes who are Jewish to Israel, gives them an Israel Experience of a lifetime and brings back Jewish athletes.

Job Description :

The Communications & Events Coordinator will report to the Executive Director and will work in partnership with the Director of Operations.

The successful candidate will manage external communications, ensuring messaging is engaging, consistent, and on-brand. We’re looking for an energetic and creative team player, self starter and driven communications professional.

The coordinator will be producing content for our online platforms, marketing materials, presentations, and Maccabiah commemorative book.

The coordinator will be the lead professional in putting on top-notch events that enable the organization to raise funds while driving awareness and support for our mission.

Roles and Responsibilities :

  • Generate content for social media and traditional media, and create a media calendar to maximize the pre, during, and post-
  • event experience for our athletes, and Maccabi Canada community.

  • Execute and measure effective communications strategies to achieve organizational goals.
  • Leading the development of press releases, Maccabiah commemorative book, donor’s stewardship and impact reports and more.
  • Maintain and update Maccabi Canada’s website.
  • Coordinate special events, lead the logistical, budgetary and delivery aspects of events.
  • Skills / Qualifications :

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in related field (communications, public relations, marketing, graphic design).
  • Expertise in using social media platforms and tools : Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Hootsuite.
  • Excellent command of MS office, Survey Monkey and Mailchimp.
  • Exceptional written and spoken English (excellent command of English grammar), French considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge and experience of the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Flash).
  • Knowledge of digital marketing (SEO, Google Analytics, etc.) considered an asset.
  • Highly organized with strong time management, and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, open, and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends or evenings to meet challenging deadlines or provide on-site event coverage when required.
