Are you an aspiring Project Manager interested in construction, contract administration, design management, or project financial management?

As Colliers Project Leaders continues to grow and attract exciting new project opportunities, we are seeking an individual with strong ties to the Inuit community to join our team as an Assistant Project Manager.

Based in Ottawa, Ontario, this role will be solely dedicated to projects in Nunavut. You will have an opportunity to make a difference in Northern communities contributing to important projects, while receiving training from professionals from our downtown Ottawa office.

You will work with the best in the industry and to develop your skills on a diverse range of projects that vary in scope and complexity.

You’ll receive on-the-job training from a team of professionals working on a variety of projects across Northern Canada in sectors such as infrastructure, schools, post-secondary, and culture and recreation.

What you’ll get to do as an Assistant Project Manager at Colliers Project Leaders :

  • Work alongside experienced project managers to learn the keys to client relationship building and successful project delivery
  • Provide project support to Project Managers by performing schedule updates, maintaining project controls, developing progress reports and preparing tender and contract documents
  • Attend various project meetings, capturing accurate action items and key decisions in meeting minutes
  • Provide a communication path between the Project Manager and other project stakeholders
  • Ensure that project activities are conducted in accordance with Colliers Project Leaders Quality Management System
  • Qualifications

    What you’ll need to be successful :

  • A high school diploma and an interest in engineering, architecture, construction management or project management. A college diploma or university degree in any of these fields is an asset.
  • Self-motivation, initiative and an eagerness to learn and contribute to meeting project deliverables
  • 1-3 years of experience representing owners to multiple stakeholders to deliver construction and building projects of varying size and scope
  • Must have strong ties or previous work experience with the Inuit community
  • Understanding of Canada’s historical relations with Indigenous Peoples and understanding of First Nations’ right to self-determination.

  • Previous exposure to consultant and design management, construction contract administration or project financials is an asset
  • A results-oriented approach with the ability to take action and responsibility'
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Exceptional detail orientation, organizational skills and the ability to prioritize competing tasks to meet tight deadlines and client expectations
  • Willingness to travel to Iqaluit and other Nunavut communities, as required
  • Fluency in Inuktitut is preferred
