PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Maintain the integrity, functionality and security of the Information Systems Network, Telecom and Audio-Visual environment.

Provide the technical skills required in the planning, procurement, implementation, and support of the hospital’s infrastructure.

Maintain a broad knowledge of the Information Systems departmental activities and procedures including Operations, Applications, Network and Telecommunications.

This position requires inclusion in a 7x24 on-call rotation.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES % of Time spent on each

  • Design, implement and maintain network systems such as routers, firewalls, switches, and wireless access points. Monitor utilization trends, manage network performance, and assure maximum uptime;
  • perform ongoing analysis, capacity planning, and technical tuning of the network systems to improve performance. Provide Tier 3 support for all network and telephony related problems.

    Design, implement and maintain Telecommunication systems.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the departmental strategic plan 10
  • Other duties as required

  • Note that this position will have either a Network or Telecom / AV focus. Time percentages expressed above will vary depending on focus.
  • SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • Works well with others in stressful situations
  • Extensive Knowledge of Cisco IOS and NX-OS pertaining to Cisco Switches, Firewalls, Routes and Wireless controllers.
  • Strong ability to monitor and analyze network performance across hospital LAN, WAN and wireless deployments
  • Good knowledge of Palo alto firewalls
  • Good knowledge of TCP / IP, UDP, IPsec L2L, IKE, ISAKMP, VPN, GRE, 802.1q, 802.11a / b / g / n, DNS, DHCP, LWAPP, VOIP, RTP, MGCP, H.
  • 323, NAT, RADIUS, VLANs, LACP, CDP, STP, RSTP, Subnetting

  • Knowledge of the OSI model
  • Knowledge of Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Cisco IP phones, Cisco Unity Voicemail and QOS
  • Familiar with network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds, Wireshark, Iperf
  • Knowledge of 2-factor authentication for remote access / VPN
  • Technical Writing / Documentation Skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies
  • Must be able to work independently / unsupervised
  • Good work ethic
  • MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Formal Education Required :

  • Information Technology Degree or Diploma or equivalent education / work experience
  • Cisco certification CCNP preferred
  • Palo Alto certification preferred
  • Previous Relevant Experience Desired :

    5 years of progressive experience in the Information Systems Field including Applications, Networking, Operations and Telecommunications.
