Our Universal & Sustainable Design office is seeking a Junior Analyst, Sustainable Design, to support Metrolinx in the design of resilient, sustainable, and high performing infrastructure, sites and buildings.
What will I be doing?
Supports the Sustainable Design Team in the development of sustainable design requirements for station sites, buildings and rail corridor infrastructure
Reviewing landscape, architectural and civil drawings, design reports and technical reports for station sites, buildings and rail corridor infrastructure, against project sustainability requirements, and providing design recommendations, including plant selection, green infrastructure design and building energy / carbon performance
Supports Metrolinx projects in attaining sustainability certifications, including LEED and Envision
Supports the Sustainable Design Team in tracking and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) for sustainability performance across Metrolinx for new capital projects
Research of sustainable design best practices for sites, buildings and rail corridor infrastructure
Prepares reports, briefing notes, presentations, and / or other supporting documents such as, spreadsheets and charts / graphics / maps
Creates PowerPoint decks and presentations for internal stakeholders
Assists in the development of procurement documents, and the coordination of, consultant studies.
Participates in team meetings related to design requirements and strategy development
Leverages and maintains internal and inter-departmental relationships to facilitate KPI data gathering and sharing, and support for sustainable design
Advises other employees on topics related to the incumbent’s area of expertise, but does not guide employees in their day-to day activities
What skills and qualifications do I need?
Completion of a diploma or degree in landscape design, building science, or architecture or a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
Minimum one (1) year of related experience
Experience conducting research and analysis of design trends and best practices
MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and oral / written / presentation communications skills to prepare proposals, reports, briefing notes, presentations, and / or other supporting documents (e.
g. spreadsheets and charts / graphics / maps)
