Your Opportunity :

As a member of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide crisis intervention, assessment, diagnostic, and treatment services to children, adolescents, families and adults with psychiatric disorders, concurrent with substance use disorders.

Registered Psychiatric Nurse responsibilities will also include working in partnership with and providing consultation to community agencies, and physicians in the continuum of mental health care.

You are comfortable working in a hospital setting and providing crisis intervention and assessment services. You are also comfortable participating in a walk-

in single session service.

Description :

As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN), you will provide leadership through a wide variety of nursing services to patients (clients, residents) for the purpose of promoting, maintaining or restoring health, mental health and preventing mental illness, injury and disability.

You will teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and take necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being.

You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care, while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

  • Required Qualifications :

    Completion of an accredited Psychiatric nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA).

    Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

    Additional Required Qualifications :

    Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing including the assessment & Provision of Psychotherapy. Diploma in Registered Psych Nursing with advanced training in assessment & Provision of Psychotherapy.

    Training in crisis intervention, assessment and case management skills.Current CPR certificate at the BLS Level C.Courses / training / certification relevant to the hiring area (e.

    g. Systems or Marriage and Family Therapy training for a Youth Addiction & Mental Health program).Minimum of 3 5 years mental health experience in comprehensive mental health assessment and the provision of psychotherapy.

    Professional Membership.Must be registered with the appropriate regulatory body.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    Master’s in Nursing preferred.
