Position Description

As an integral member of Management, the Assistant Manager is responsible for ensuring profit maximization through

employee co-ordination and motivation. An inspirational leader to those working with him / her, who uses good judgement

and strategic and successful business management. The Assistant Manager achieves these goals by meeting the

Company’s 7 Corporate Objectives, adhering to Company policies and procedures and by being a strong and respected

role model to all team members.

Training, Coaching and Development :

h Provide training and orientation to new employees

h Provide fair, ongoing and effective training and coaching to all store level employees so that they can successfully execute their jobs

h Complete Measurable Performance Indicator forms in order to fairly assess employee performance and have

subsequent discussions with the employees regarding performance, progress and development

h Partner with the Store Manager to hold employees accountable through a fair and consistent performance management process

h In partnership with the Store Manager, counsel and effectively resolve team performance issues through effective coaching, Performance Improvement Plans and Development Plans

h Ensure and manage employee compliance with Company policies. (e.g. dress code, cell phone, lateness policy)

h Provide discipline to store level employees in accordance with the Company s discipline policies

h Is knowledgeable in and uses all available training resources to maximum benefit including the MTP and the Passport to Success

h Actively participate in his / her own training by putting into practice what has been learned

h Participate in the annual assessment process (Total Performance Review Program) for store employees, including providing assessment feedback and delivering assessments

h Effectively recommend termination of employment, as long as termination criteria is met

h Completes necessary Health and Safety training and in partnership with the Store Manager, ensures the store consistently meets and adheres to Health and Safety policy guidelines by creating a safe work place

Qualifications

  • h Degree or certification in Retail Management
  • h Business Management or 2+ years experience in retail management
  • h Proven leadership skills
  • h Time management, organizational and multi-tasking ability
  • h People person, with strong ability to communicate with customers and employees
  • h Excellent problem-solving skills
  • h Strong merchandising and presentation skills
  • h Must work well in a team-oriented environment
  • h Able to work independently with minimal supervision
