Pearl West is a fast-paced, competitive, and rapidly growing consumer brands company who is looking for an EXTREMELY talented Finance Manager to join our team.

The primary goal of this role is to be our Numbers King, by helping organize and prioritize the company’s financial data, short-term / long-term objectives, with the goal of preparing the pathway for an IPO.

The ideal candidate should have direct experience with debt financing, raising capital, and capital deployment.

Position Summary :

As a Finance Manager, you will provide guidance and direction to the executive team on strategic business decisions for the organization .

B eing the internal expert on all day-to-day accounting activities, you are also responsible for preparing timely financial reports, Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) activities, forecasting and budgeting, and ensuring PWG’s overall financial well-being .

Duties and Responsibilities :

Strategic Business Leadership

  • Collaborates with senior management team to make key organizational decisions and to meet business objectives, which prepares the company on the path to IPO.
  • Recommends and integrates benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations.
  • In collaboration with senior management, implements operational best practices.
  • Coordinates and prepares, on a timely basis, information related to reporting requirements associated with contracts and all revenue generating services.
  • Provides leadership through technical (finance and accounting) expertise and mentorship / training of others.
  • Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly / quarterly / annual financial statements for business analysis.
  • Provides regular (and ad hoc) business reports to COO.
  • Establishes and maintains a system for management reports.
  • Calculates financial and operating metrics, expenditures, investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
  • Produces the annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Ensures Company business plans are achieved by monitoring adherence to budgets and reporting significant variances .
  • Prepares corporate annual reporting documents in conjunction with external accounting firm and coordinates external audits as required.
  • Prepares GST, income tax returns, and other government remittances.
  • Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A)

  • Explores, researches, and assesses acquisition opportunities with a focus on valuation accuracy and equity profile.
  • Conducts due diligence for all potential acquisition opportunities.
  • Helps manage the mergers and acquisition process from research and analysis to closing and integration.
  • Negotiates contracts, agreements, and terms for maximum profitability and financial flexibility for PWG.
  • Coordinates with Operations team the asset migration of acquired businesses to ensure smooth transition and appropriate integration.
  • identifies all property and contractual rights and arranges for the transfer of valid legal title at closing.
  • procures rights to all digital assets and secures the related income and payment streams upon which the purchase price is based including the target’s website, domain names, trademarks, copyrights, and other intellectual property which can be transferred by general and / or specific assignment documents.
  • Prepares, presents, and reviews financial presentations for key stakeholders as needed.
  • Stays up to date on deal flow opportunities and maintains active relationships with deal brokers and private sellers.
  • Direct experience with raising capital, debt financing, and capital deployment.
  • Team Management

  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees administrative procedures and systems and devising ways to streamline workflow / processes and implement control systems, and policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the operations of the finance team, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
  • Maintains an accurate and documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Ensures all direct reports have adequate training, resources, and support to perform effectively.
  • Guides finance staff by coordinating activities, providing training, and coaching.
  • Day to Day Accounting

  • Directs and oversees the workload of the finance staff ensuring the team’s output is accurate and timely.
  • Supervises payroll administration, remits source deductions, WCB premiums and ensures T4’s and ROE’s are prepared as required.
  • Tracks and monitors key metrics (e.g., sales results, expenditures, etc.).
  • Maintains finance and accounting files and records.
  • Verifies and posts transactions using accounting software.
  • Coordinates accounts payable, accounts receivables, cheque runs, and electronic transfers.
  • Reconciles accounts and prepares financial working papers, and all related procedures to maintain an accurate and timely measurement of financial data.
  • Education and Experience :

  • CMA, CPA designation OR combination of experience, education, and training equivalent to be designated in the field.
  • 5 years’ experience in an Accounting or Finance role within a small or medium size business environment ideally during high growth periods
  • Experience with accounting transactions such as consolidation, financial statements preparation and note disclosure considered a must.
  • Supervisory experience an asset.
  • Advanced skills in accounting software programs and Microsoft Office.
  • Considerable knowledge of financial reporting under Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE).
