The Opportunity Mechanical Engineer
Requires application of mature engineering knowledge in planning, conducting projects, and having scope for being responsible for independent and collaboratively resolving difficult assignments.
Assigned problems make it necessary to modify established guides, devise new approaches, apply existing criteria in new ways, and draw conclusions from comparative situations.
Location : Mississauga, ON
The Challenge :
Design and maintain mechanical and electronic systems for military naval systems (including hydraulics and mechanisms).
Analyze contract specifications & requirements in order to determine system requirements.
Support interfacing disciplines such as electrical, software, test, customer support, manufacturing, production, product management and project management.
Work with project managers on production efforts to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
Occasional travel to support on site field service activities.
Follows every reasonable precaution to ensure work is performed following the Health & Safety Guidelines
No direct reports, but may provide technical and project leadership to other engineering specialists
Your Expertise :
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Applied Science.
PEO "Professional Engineer" designation.
5 plus years of engineering experience.
Experience in machine design and analysis is required
Experience with GD&T
Familiarity with hydraulic and electrical systems is beneficial
Experience with testing of components and / or systems is desirable
Managing complex project requirements, schedule and risk is beneficial
Experience with naval or airborne machinery including winches, large projects and their management, as well as government and international customers would be an asset.
Experience with international and military standards is highly desirable.
Work is assigned in terms of objectives, relative priorities and critical areas that impinge on work of other departments.
Familiar with preparation of project plans, test procedures, qualification testing and technical reports.
Must be Canadian citizen and able to obtain and maintain security clearance of secret level or higher
