  • Position Summary : Reporting to the Head of Program Management, the Senior Project Manager / Product Owner works closely with executive sponsors and business partners to manage and deliver Haventree Bank’s projects effectively.

    The primary purpose of this role is to improve the business’ ability to achieve its goals and objectives through effective project implementation and continuous product improvements.

    Major Duties & Responsibilities : Project Initiation and Planning

  • Ensure all projects start with a clear project charter
  • Work with executive sponsors to develop a feasible / flexible project plan to support business goals and define the return on investment.
  • Ensure scope, business requirements, timeline, budget, and deliverables are clearly defined.
  • Obtain approval for project kick-off, scope change, go-live and project closure.
  • Agile Define a sprint goal, create, and prioritize a product backlog, and increase the value of product in a sprint.
  • Resource Management

  • Identify and assign people who has the right skill and experience to the project.
  • Analyze resource needs and skill gaps then propose solutions to product stakeholders.
  • Define roles and responsibilities needed on any given project.
  • Agile Liaise resource gaps with other product owners.
  • Setting Standards

  • Create and maintain project artifacts standards, archives, and tool sets.
  • Leverage templates, tools, and software to manage project efforts.
  • Upon project completion, archive project artifacts per company retention guidelines.
  • Agile Work with the squad to define the Definition of Done appropriate for the products.
  • Executing a Project

  • Assist executive sponsors to deliver projects on time, in budget and on scope.
  • Actively identify and remove constraints in response to changing risks and / or assumptions.
  • Seize opportunities to align with other projects with common goals during project execution.
  • Provide clear visibility on project progress.
  • Agile Work with the scrum master to promote quick decision-making and remove impediments and help developers understand product backlog and make effective trade-offs.
  • Reporting and Monitoring

  • Review project scope, timeline, and budget variance with the executive sponsor and Project Steering Committee.
  • Measure projects using the PMO project scoring methodology.
  • Measure benefit realization.
  • Agile Schedule a sprint review working session to present the increments of each sprint.
  • Qualifications & Experience : Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications :

  • The position requires a university or post-graduate degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Must have PMP or CSM Certification or proven experience with leading projects to deliver products and apps, implementing service offerings and systems development from beginning to end.
  • Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job :

  • The position requires 7+ years of managing projects preferably in Digital Transformation of Financial Services or Fintech.
  • Experience with Salesforce, and Back Office Mortgages / Lending Underwriting Systems are a plus.
  • Curious generalist, who’s able to understand the why behind each project requirement, strive for clarity when required and proactively raise risk, scope creep, project issues and priorities in multiple projects.
  • Experience with project management tools (e.g. : MS Project, JIRA Portfolio.)
  • Show effectiveness in problem solving by bridging the gaps between the technical teams and business teams.
  • Understands regulatory, compliance and governing policies and procedures for banking, lending, financial products, registered and non-registered account offerings for banks and lending institutions in Canada.
