ROLE STATEMENT

Position : Camps Coordinator

Department : Recreational Learning

Compensation : $720 per week (plus compensation for training)

Number of Vacancies : 1

Duration : April September (Part-time in April-May / Full-time May 11 September 4)

Hours : Monday to Friday, 8 : 30AM 4 : 30PM / 35hrs per week (Additional duties starting at 7 : 30AM and going as late at 6 : 00PM may be assigned).

JOB DESCRIPTION

Working under the direction of Assistant Manager Recreational Learning, the Camps Coordinator supports all processes related to the successful operation of camp programs.

The Camps Coordinator will coordinate the day to day activities of Harbourfront Centre Camps, including the execution of beginning and end-of-day travel locations, end-of-session Open Houses, camp-wide activities, weekly staff meetings, staff training and supply management.

The Camps Coordinator will provide exceptional customer service to all participants in our programs via phone, email, and face-to-face communication, and position themselves as the senior step in issue resolution.

As a resource to new and returning staff, the successful candidate should be well versed in a day camp setting and have supervisor experience.

The ideal candidate will face each day with a positive attitude and understand that shifting priorities require a flexible approach to daily tasks.

DUTIES

  • Assist in hiring, training, supervising and evaluating Supervisors
  • Assist in hiring, training and supervising Directors
  • Assist in hiring, training and supervising Counsellors
  • Assist in ordering program supplies and manage supply inventory
  • Program and help facilitate camp-wide activities for weekly theme days
  • Manage beginning and end-of-day travel locations
  • Manage and evaluate Counsellor-in-Training (CIT) Facilitator
  • Manage and help facilitate Open Houses
  • Administrative duties such as evaluations, incident / accident reports, scheduling, etc.
  • Plan and run camp specific meetings
  • Provide superior customer service
  • Other duties as required
  • WORKPLACE HEALTH AND SAFETY

  • All staff are required to take reasonable care of their own health and safety and that of other personnel (including volunteers and interns) who may be affected by their conduct.
  • SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

    Essential Criteria

  • At least 21 years of age within the calendar year;
  • Previous supervisory experience required;
  • Significant previous camp experience required;
  • Strong leadership, programming and organizational skills;
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and responsible;
  • Enjoy working with children;
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C;
  • Police Reference and Vulnerable Sector Screening prior to June 29, 2020;
  • Desirable Criteria

  • Enrolled in or completed a post secondary degree in related field;
  • Valid G-Class driver’s licence is an asset
  • Working Conditions

  • Standing for prolonged periods of time;
  • Some stressful situations caused by numerous deadlines, varying work schedules;
  • Some exposure to inclement weather conditions during outdoor and offsite programs;
  • Weekend work can be required, particularly in Spring with staff hiring and training
  • Interviews : Will be held mid-April (or scheduled based on applicant’s availability)
