A Principal Pipeline Engineer at BMT Canada will work as a senior member of the APS technical and management team :
Executing and directing technical projects
Providing guidance and mentoring to junior staff
Write, review and contribute to project reports
Manage and contribute to multiple projects simultaneously
Be a technical leader for pipeline and / or pressure vessels and piping design and integrity assessment considering pressure, geotechnical and thermal loading
Have experience and familiarity with relevant Canadian pipeline and energy sector standards and codes of practice to lead project teams in code compliance review and assessments.
Support project and business management
Identify opportunities for technology and staff improvement
Support recruitment of additional staff
Review, discuss and refer business opportunities to appropriate business units within APS (i.e. Structural Integrity, Welding, Materials, Software & Instrumentation, Design & Construction)
Experience within the North American Energy Pipeline and / or Industrial Plant Service sector
Over 15 years of related engineering experience
Proven engineering skills and a valid Professional Engineering licence
Post-Graduate degree in Mechanical, Metallurgical or Civil Engineering
In depth knowledge of engineering applied to the energy sector Leadership and management experienceExperience working in a consulting environmentProven track record leading client relationships and business promotion / salesA track record for the solution of energy sector (pipe and / or plant) engineering design and / or assessment tasks
In depth subject matter expertise related to several of design, fitness for service assessment (i.e. cracking, corrosion, weld fault, geohazard, hydrotechnical hazard assessment), materials, welding, forensic investigation
Industry recognition as a subject matter expert in energy sector
Expertise and industrial track record related to numerical modelling (e.g. finite element modelling, computational fluid dynamics)
Preferred Experience / Qualifications
Experience working with industry standards CSA Z662, API 579, API 1104, BS 7910, ASME PVC, ASME B31 series
Client facing experience and excellent presentation skills
Proven ability working in a small team environment
Strong technical report and proposal writing track record
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Current capabilities working with numerical simulation (e.g., finite element modelling, computational fluid dynamics)
Knowledge IMP (Integrity Management Program Development)
Knowledge of in line inspection tools, reporting and program development
Knowledge related to reliability and risk assessment
