The HR Representative is responsible for providing guidance and support to employees on established human resources policies, programs, and pay related provisions of multiple collective agreements and terms & conditions of employment.

The HR Representative maintains employee life-cycle event information within the HRIS system, ensuring the integrity of master data and adherence to best practices.

The HR Representative partners with Talent Management peers to ensure implementation of new or changing programs / provisions are supported and incorporated into internal practices, managed within the HRIS system as appropriate, and provides guidance to employees and managers on their application / eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for applying multiple, diversified and complex procedural rules / processes in support of employee life cycle events including new hire, personnel movements, leaves of absence, return to work, strike action, layoff and recall, termination and retirement activities.
  • Manages pay related events in accordance with collective agreement provisions and non-unionized compensation guidelines and ensures master data integrity within the HRIS system.
  • This requires an intimate knowledge of multiple collective agreement provisions relating to pay and employee entitlements.

  • Responsible for administering pension and benefit programs in accordance with plan and legislated criteria.
  • Supports launch and on-going support of Talent Management programs, initiatives and tools.
  • Supports Business Partner with disability administration functions.
  • Provides input and feedback in support of renegotiating collective agreements, internal Employee Support Services processes and other Talent Management programs.
  • Prepares ad hoc and prescribed reports.
  • Required Skills

    Education, Training and Experience :

  • Post-secondary level education in Human Resources or Business or a related field.
  • A minimum of three years related experience supporting a sophisticated HRIS system, preference for SAP
  • Previous experience providing front line employee support for pay related inquiries and benefits / pension administration
  • Previous experience working within a unionized environment is an asset.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.

    Demonstrated Competencies, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :

  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manipulate and present data to a variety of audiences
  • Better than average skill and experience in MS Word and Excel
