As the Compliance Analyst Group Customer, you will provide support to the Group Customer 2nd line Compliance team to exercise independent oversight of the regulatory risk management framework within the Group Customer Line of Business.
The focus will be to assist in documenting and maintaining the compliance controls within Life and Health and GRS business areas.
You will also assist in co-ordination of second line compliance oversight activities, assist in reporting as well as work with the compliance teams to co-ordinate and provide technical and regulatory expertise to the first line business to help meet their requirements.
Assist the team in performance of second line of defense compliance oversight activities including documenting compliance controls in the compliance systems and co-ordination of activities to regularly test the same.
Participate in regulatory update reviews and research legislation to provide constructive input into emerging rules and regulations and to provide appropriate guidance to the business on potential impacts.
Assist the team to identify and provide guidance to the business concerning compliance risk associated with Line of Business initiatives and projects and to escalate any issues or proposed solutions to the Manager, Director and / or Senior Business Compliance Officer as necessary.
Assist with drafting the monthly legislative update summary prior to circulation to the Line of Business.
Work collaboratively with the first line of defense contacts on projects to ensure compliance controls exist and to ensure all relevant regulations and requirements are incorporated into management policies and processes.
Assist the team on regular reporting activities.
Build partnerships with other functions and with the first line of defense within the Line of Business to facilitate an effective compliance culture within Group Customer.
Accountabilities will also include :
A focus on legislative and regulatory requirements related to Life and Health and GRS Business.
A focus on documentation and testing of regulatory controls within Group customer business.
Assisting to create benchmarks and standards on compliance elements to be met by the Line of Business.
Performing other tasks as assigned and as may be required by Corporate Compliance.
Qualifications and Competencies :
Post-secondary education preferred (Business, Finance, Audit, Accounting, Legal); however, applicants with an equivalent level of training or experience will be considered.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in an insurance / financial services industry.
Experience creating reports, processes and checklists.
Ability to monitor new and emerging regulatory trends and evaluate policies, processes and systems to identify business risks and control gaps.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships and influence change effectively with a broad range of individuals and groups.
Very good organizational skills with strong attention to detail, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with a strong working knowledge of Excel (ability to create pivot tables, vlookups, IF functions etc.)
Excellent analytical skills.
