Our Hatch office in Winnipeg is looking for a Railway Designer to join our growing Infrastrucutre team. The ideal candidate will povide design development of complex and unique designs under general direction of a responsible engineer or manager.
Work performed is accomplished in a professional stature with leadership in an area of design specialization.
Designing track and railway infrastructure in accordance with the quality objectives and regulations, laws and standards;
ex. CN, CP and AREMA);
Designing capabilities within heavy rail is essential, additional experience with metro and / or light rail is also desirable;
Producing and checking a wide variety of track designs, grading models, DTM surface and applicable details;
Being able to work with LIDAR point clouds, manage, verify and control surveys and geographic data for design needs;
Being an innovative thinker capable of challenging existing practices to arrive at effective solutions;
Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations in health and safety related to design.
Hold as a minimum, a diploma in civil Engineering technology or degree in civil engineering;
Must have between two (2) to five (5) years of professional experience in all aspects of track design, from conceptual to detailed design;
Experience in civil infrastructure, DTM surfaces, alignment, grading and drainage design, and construction would be an asset;
Additional capabilities in roadway design would be an asset;
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal are essential;
Experience working for an engineering consultancy or railway within the rail sector is an asset;
Having experience in the use and application of railway industry standards;
Good AutoCAD capabilities;
Working knowledge of Civil 3D is a must;
Ability to work with minimal supervision;
Ability to work in order to meet cost targets, quality targets and deadlines;
Ability to maintain good working relationships with the various parties involved in the process;
Time management skills and ability to adapt to change;
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, attention to detail and decision-making skills;
Ability to switch between tasks and assignments as required;
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
