    Duties and Responsibilities

    As a Mechanical Designer you will :

  • Review information from reports and published documents; evaluate and analyze the information to understand broad requirements of project
  • Mechanical Revit Designer

  • Develop complex technical designs to ensure an exemplary solution is delivered that meets quality parameters, project timelines and budgetary requirements
  • Mechanical Engineer / Designer Mechanical Engineer - Building Systems

  • Perform technical reviews and edits drawings as required and review engineering design requirements to offer recommendations;
  • creates drawings to support constructions projects

  • Perform design activities such as complex calculations, code research, material and building systems research, laying out components and calculation of program and building areas;
  • refine and direct the refinement of design options and develops engineering details

  • Evaluate site conditions, including zoning requirements and site constraints; meet with authorities having jurisdiction to establish requirements
  • Design significant components of the overall building including integrating with architectural, structural and electrical design, and adhering to applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements
  • Synthesize, interpret and coordinate technical information to write engineering specifications
  • Source all materials to be drawn and specified to ensure feasibility and to meet design intent and comply with industry standards
  • Perform site surveys and field reviews to accurately document existing and new construction conditions
  • Review project products, services and shop drawings to ensure adherence to project documents, relevant jurisdictional codes and corporate quality controls
  • Process permit response letters and coordinate revisions with architects and other consultants, as required, to obtain necessary documentation and permits
  • Attend meetings to coordinate drawings and resources, determine project criteria and provide information
  • Coordinate activities with contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives
  • Complies with accepted project management methodology; documents and manages scope, work effort, budget, cost controls, schedules, etc.
  • Reviews design requirements, drawings and schedules to ensure program and client requirements are met and all codes and jurisdictional requirements are complied with
  • Recommends opportunities for recovery of costs to ensure profitability of project
  • Qualifications

  • Have successfully completed related post-secondary education
  • Is proficient in Engineering software skills, including AutoCAD, Revit MEP and Carrier HAP
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience in Mechanical design
  • Is familiar with Mechanical building systems, and relevant building codes and standards
  • Possess decision making, time management, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrate an ability to collaborate with other professional disciplines
  • Registration in relevant professional association and LEED certification is an asset
