  • Duties and Responsibilities

    Develop next-generation power electronic converter topologies for charging and motor control for fully-electric vehicles

    Loss analysis and thermal calculations of power electronic converters

    Gate driver design for IGBTs and MOSFETs (both silicon and wide band gap devices)

    Printed circuit board (PCB) design for both power and control stages

    Coordinate design of control PCBs with embedded software engineers

    Hardware design from concept through validation

    Responsibilities will include electric system component design and will focus on designing the prototypes and finalizing design-for-manufacturing specifications

    Analyzing and improving the efficiency and scalability of the power electronics

    Developing and executing a test planning program for power converter systems and subsystems

    Support power electronics integration in other vehicle subsystems

    Assess trade-offs between business requirements, technology requirements, cost, risk and timing

    Monitor global EV developments - Product and Technology Watch / New Developments

    Additional responsibilities will include managing development of supplier parts, competitor benchmarking, CAE analysis, cost calculation, and assisting with related electric systems testing

    Qualifications

    Degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering degree

    advanced degree preferred

    Minimum of 2 years of experience required in power electronic circuit design

    Previous automotive industry experience is essential

    Experience in prototyping medium power, power electronic converter systems (above 3.3 kW)

    Experience designing and developing wireless charging systems

    Experience with design of DC / DC converters and inverters, as well as converter modulation methods

    Competence with embedded systems and control simulations tools such as MATLAB, PSIM, PLECS and Simplorer

    Experience with PCB design software such as Altium and prototype design preferred

    Experience with advanced silicon IGBT technologies, wide bandgap devices (SiC and GaN) and their applications preferred

    Knowledge of SAE / UL / IEC standards related to the deployment of power electronic converters in EVs

    Proficient PC Skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other technical software)

    Ability to travel internationally and work overtime will be required

    Fluent in English

    Excellent communication skills and time management skills required
