As various positions will be filled from this inventory, a complete statement of merit criteria is not provided at this time.

The criteria listed are those requirements to be met for entry into the inventory. Should you be contacted for further consideration, the hiring manager will provide a copy of the complete Statement of Merit Criteria (SoMC) for the position being filled.

At that time, you may be required to provide additional information to be used for screening and assessment. The merit criteria may be assessed each time using a variety of assessment methods in accordance with the position requirements.

Intent of the process An inventory of eligible candidates (not assessed) will be established from this process which may be used for casual opportunities within the Department of Justice Canada and the Departmental Legal Services Units with various language requirements, operational requirements, condition of employments and / or work locations.

1. Graduated from a Center of professional studies (Quebec only) OR recognized post-secondary institution before January 2020.

3. Not being employed as a term or indeterminate employee in the Public Service at the time of appointment.

    Q. As I complete the online application, I am being asked many questions regarding my experiences. Do I have to respond to them all?

    What will you do with my responses?

    A. Yes, you need to respond to all of these questions with a simple yes or no response. Your responses will determine the type of opportunity you will be considered for.

    Q. How do you conduct your searches from this inventory?

    A. Searches are conducted on various criteria such as : group and level, work location, linguistic proficiency and your responses to the education and experience questions.

    Q. Can I email you my résumé?

    A. No, all job applications, which includes your résumé, must be submitted using the public service jobs web site. No résumés will be accepted via email.

    Q. Will you use random selection when conducting your searches?

    A. As a means to manage high volumes we may use random selection. For example, we may ask the system to provide us 50 random applications who meet our search criteria.

    Q. Will an interview be conducted?

    A. Yes, an interview will always be conducted which may be formal or informal.

    Q. Will you request references?

    A. Yes, you should be ready to provide references from supervisors, clients and / or subordinates.

    Q. Will an exam be administered?

    A. Depending on the position, an exam may be administered.

    A. No, this inventory is only for hiring of former students only.

    Q. I am currently a term or indeterminate employee of the federal government. Will I be considered?

    A. No, this inventory is only for hiring of former students only. Employees of the government are not eligible for this mechanism (formerly known as student bridging).
