The Asphalt Superintendent is responsible to perform a range of supervisory duties in the field related to all aspects of NRC methodologies in municipal and highway road building, airport-related works and unique projects as they may arise with a specific focus to the construction of flexible pavements and related works.

This position demands professionalism, and the ability to take responsibility to safely execute the work in a prompt and efficient manner, and to ensure that all work completed meets the customer’s expectation of quality workmanship.

This position will report directly to the Asphalt Manager.


  • with a Construction Management Degree is considered an asset
  • Must have strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Job Requirements

  • Plan, organize, and direct field operations to achieve project objectives
  • Direct people and equipment resources in the most efficient and economical manner
  • Review and analyze field performance to continually improve operations
  • Review plans, specifications, shop drawings, and monitor job costs vs. budget costs
  • Identify gaps, errors, and unexpected problems and create quality solutions
  • Deliver projects on schedule, on budget, and to the specified requirements
  • Maintain exceptional standards in safety, quality, and environmental stewardship
  • Guide, train, and evaluate employee performance and provide corrective action when needed
  • Assist with various aspects of bid preparation including soil testing and field reconnaissance
  • Liaise, consult and communicate effectively with management, engineers, owners, contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers on project-related matters.
