As a Technology Architect within the TELUS Health Operations, you will be leading and facilitating the network architecture and design for implementation team to implement technical solutions and processes related to TELUS Health operations.

You will contribute to the Definition of operational excellence, standards and guidelines regarding the proper use and deployment of network infrastructure to support business applications, data and technology within TELUS Health.

Creating and managing the various key network architecture assets to integrate correctly and efficiently for the designated portfolio and scope.

You will report directly to Director of IT Operations and partner with stakeholders in technology and business to define network architecture possibilities and futures.

In conjunction with the business and development teams, you will make recommendations on process or network design enhancements.

You will be a key member of the network architecture operations specification review process, ensuring network infrastructure meets business and operations requirements.

You will analyze, architect and design viable network solutions to high complexity business problems according to user specifications.

You will be a key player in identifying risks and / or issues within our network solution and design for all TELUS Health data centers and locations which may impact realization of project benefits and provides guidance and support to stakeholders in making good decisions to pro-actively resolve or mitigate potential risks / delays to the project.

Your priority will be to ensure that network infrastructure and systems functionally appropriate, technically sound and well-integrated.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage the Network Architecture Roadmap for TELUS Health
  • Work with stakeholders, development and delivery teams to implement CTO Strategies for Network Reliability and Security
  • Work with the Cloud Architecture Team to create a design specs for network integration to public clouds
  • Create and maintain Network standards and policies
  • Architectural framework and road map for various infrastructure
  • Provide infrastructure to support business requests / challenges
  • Develop plans and strategies to improve network performance, reliability and operational cost-effectiveness
  • Architecture documentation management
  • Provide consultation and comprehensive support to our internal and external business partners including Architecture, Engineering, Application Services, Distributed Computing (server, storage, web hosting), Information Security, Business Continuity and our business stakeholders
  • Architect and build national network backbone connecting data centers including public clouds
  • Consultations with internal and external customers
  • Process network requests both in day to day requests as well as for projects
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and cross-trained junior network architect
  • Participate in Defect Resolution - provide Tier4 support during high priority incidents requests come directly from Director(s)
  • Qualifications

    Required Technologies / Protocols / Tools Knowledge and Experience :

  • Cisco routers and switches (legacy and next generation like ACI)
  • BGP, EBGP, EIGRP, OSPF, Spanning tree
  • F5 Load Balancers
  • Multi-functions firewalls : Checkpoint, Fortinet, Juniper
  • Visio, Microsoft offices, Google suites
  • Required Knowledge and Experience :

  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in data center networking and infrastructure support, engineering, design and architecture
  • 2-3 years of experience in enterprise data center networking architectures on large infrastructure and proven experience in leading the architecture of a large program from initiation to implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present information to management and non-technical audience
  • Knowledge and / or of the Healthcare industry including operations, technology and the business environment
  • Expert knowledge of network and computer systems hardware and software theory, practice, concepts and technology relevant to organizational vision
  • Expert knowledge and experience in the following key areas : Data center and remote locations networking LAN / WAN Routing, switching, load balancing, DNS, and multi-functions firewalls Data center network integration
  • Application and network technology integration, integration and architecture design experience
  • Experience designing, implementing, and supporting Enterprise Infrastructure Technologies and Platforms including public and private Cloud
  • Operations Architecture : High-availability, reliability, operability, failover, disaster recovery, capacity / performance management
  • Understands value drivers; understands delivery approaches; experience in architecture and delivery of solutions that consider operations / availability
  • Network Security, Network Hardware Configuration, Network Protocols, Networking Standards, Supervision, Conceptual Skills, Decision Making, Informing Others, Functional and Technical Skills, Dependability, Information Security Policies
  • Ability to articulate and resolve complex project related problems and execute innovative solutions, in a fast-paced environment changing environment with multiple
  • Exposure to and experience with tools and technologies used to design, plan, and validate architecture designs
  • Experience with change management and / or deploying enterprise distributed systems in a production environment
  • Experience and understanding of networking services consisting of Virtual and Physical network functions
  • Experience with Container, Orchestration and Micro-Services with your AWS, Azure, GCP or other Cloud infrastructure
  • Good experience in using Ansible / Chef or Puppet
  • Required Professional Designation / Certification :

  • BA or MBA in computer science, engineering, or information systems
  • Applicable certifications in network engineering and architecture
  • Applicable certifications in public clouds will be an asset
  • Cisco CCIE designation is an asset
