Your Opportunity

Stantec's Environmental Services Practice is looking for an Acoustical Field Engineer / Specialist to join our Acoustic, Noise and Vibration team.

This opportunity is located in our Mississauga, Markham or Toronto office locations.

Our Acoustical engineers provide specialized services to a wide variety of sectors including industry, government, architecture, transportation, and buildings.

Our practitioners offer a full suite of services including permitting, monitoring, modeling, planning, policy studies, design, and control.

This is a contract position, where the successful client will be called upon on an as-needed basis to complete the acoustic field work required.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting attended noise measurements using a sound level meter
  • Conducting attended vibration measurements using a vibration analyzer
  • Conducting unattended noise and vibration monitoring, including setup, teardown and battery replacement
  • Setting up remote noise and vibration monitoring systems
  • Downloading and preparing noise and vibration measurement / monitoring data, including review of data for relevance and reliability (e.
  • g. review audio files, check against inclement weather conditions, etc.)

  • Prepare short technical memos with the results of the noise and / or vibration measurements and monitoring
  • Your Capabilities and Credentials

    Familiarity with data acquisition practices and software

    Experience with sound and vibration measurement instruments would be an asset

    Able to work independently and in field conditions

    Able to work remotely for extended periods of time (typically days or weeks at a time)

    Demonstrated experience in working in a team environment and communicating with external clients

    Working knowledge of software (e.g., Microsoft Office, CAD, etc.)

    Creative, organized and able to multi-task while working independently

    Excellent communication skills (both oral and written)

    Diligent and detail oriented with the desire to learn

    Flexibility in scheduling required for travel related to site surveys

    A valid driver's license is required

    Education and Experience

    Graduate of an accredited university or college with a major in Engineering is desired.

    Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
