Our client is looking for a Senior Analyst, Corporate Financial Reporting to join their team. The Senior Analyst, Corporate Financial Reporting is a key member of the Corporate Financial Reporting team taking a lead role in the preparation and coordination of quarterly and annual financial reporting.
The primary responsibilities of this position will be the preparation and coordination of financial statements including assisting with MD&A, regulatory filings, review of corporate financial information that is to be disclosed publicly for accuracy and consistency and assisting with monthly closing activities.
Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to :
Assisting with monthly closing activities including journal entries and intercompany invoices.
Coordinating the quarterly and annual financial reporting process for Financial Services through collaboration with business units and Investment Accounting team.
Preparing the quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and notes and maintaining supporting documents.
Preparing a detailed analysis of the consolidated financial statements each quarter explaining balances and variances.
Assisting with the preparation of the annual MD&A.
Coordinating the interim and year-end audits with the internal and external auditors / Providing support to the Manager and Director in all matters pertaining to the interim and year-end audits.
Preparing and reviewing, as needed, financial information presented to the Audit and Actuarial Committee and other committee meetings.
Managing the information needs in order to facilitate completion of the annual consolidated financial statements and the Annual Report.
Keeping abreast of changes in accounting standards and regulatory agency reporting requirements and providing input and reviewing documentation related to accounting and reporting issues.
Preparing regulatory reports on a timely basis including statutory and statistical reporting to FSCO, Statistics Canada and CRA.
Managing the financial reporting and financial information requirements of various legal entities including coordinating cash withdrawals, financial schedules, financial statements, and responding to ad-hoc queries.
In order to be considered for the Senior Analyst, Corporate Financial Reporting role you must have :
A University Degree and CPA (Big 4)
5+ years’ experience in progressively responsible transactional accounting and reporting functions.
Hands on experience preparing notes to financials, and preparation of the annual MD&A.
Strong knowledge of IFRS (notes, statements, issues).
Excellent understanding of the general ledger and other financial systems and Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills for dealing with personnel at all levels of the organization and building external relationships with auditors, actuaries and other stakeholders.
Experience with Oracle Financials would be an asset
